Facial Suncream/child suncream issues. Help please

We are currently abroad and I put some boots facial suncream on today and all of my make up just slid off and I just looked a gunky mess. I have a big holiday for a major birthday coming up and it's going to be hot. Can anyone give me some recommendations for face sun cream in a high factor that let's you put a small amount of make up on afterwards ???

Also my eldest is very fair but is a real sun cream resistor . Any tips??? It's really challenging. She sometimes can be persuaded to wear a t shirt at beach but other than that it's a screaming match!

Thanks all Grin

@southeastlondonmum Hi! I use this facial sun cream by Hawaiian Tropic (I got it in Boots) and I'm pretty sure they have a factor 50. (I use 30 & my makeup NEVER moves throughout the day + I don't get greasy or breakout!) smells awesome too :)

Agree - I would love to know of a suncream with a dry-touch finish (grease free), just because I hate the oil-slick feeling.... but the minute you find one, by next year the formulations have changed and you’re back to square one!

I just bought la Roche posay spf 30 face sunscreen a few days ago after it was recommended on here, used it today and my make up stayed put all day. I got it in Boots, small bottle for about £14 but worth it in my limited experience!

Oh some good suggestions here thank you. How do those chic women who I see around do it?!

Calypso dry oil spray. It's really cheap too.

We have had HUGE success with the new Nivea roll ons. They are rolling it on themselves! 🤓

Would you eldest understand the deal of ‘no suncream if you wear your hat and rash vest’? That’s what I do with my dd who hates suncream on her face (it often irritates her eyes). She’s really good about wearing her hat, though, and I trust her.

Soap and glory do a factor 50 face sun cream. With the moisturizer etc in boots rather than with the su cream

I use Dermalogica Solar Defence Booster (I think it's called). You mix it with your usual moisturiser. It is expensive, but you don't need much and a bottle lasts for quite a while. Alternatively, I've used a La Roche Posay one in the past and that has worked well.

southeastlondonmum · 28/05/2018 22:10

The roll on is a good idea. She really gets very irritable by hats/ creams or anything like that. Pretty certain she is somewhere on the spectrum

I use dry oil spray on my face. It's not specifically for faces but it works fine.
calypso one is nice and Hawaiian tropic

Ollivander84 · 29/05/2018 00:59

For face - Frezyderm velvet matte

For child - banana boat aerosol spray (you can literally spray it like a deo, no rubbing in, grab child and point and aim)

Both come in a factor 50 and I've tested both as a pale blue redhead by being out for 3hrs at midday and not a red bit in sight

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/05/2018 07:05

I was using the la roche posay factor 50 for oily skin but I’ll switch to the ordinary 30 for oily skin when it comes out.

I put a thin layer of their nicanamide and zinc underneath in the summer to stop the shine and I blot the sun cream with tissue before applying foundation.
