Hairstyles that make one look younger

I can't believe I am at that age wherein this is a concern!

But anyway, I have long straight hair, and it's shedding so much recently. I'm planning to have it cut. I have recently been called "mam" too and it hurt.

I have a round face.

What hairstyles can make one look younger?

I adore the lob hairstyle, and having one cut really made me feel and look a bit more youthful.

Colour any greys that you may have, and maybe get a balayage done.

Take vitamins for hair thickening if you’re shedding.

Changing your hair parting can apparently help you to look younger. I think it varies from person to person which parting ‘invigorates’ them. Maybe have a practice and see if it works for you.

A fringe if you have frown lines.

Another vote for a fringe.

What is your hair like, what is your face shape, and how much are you prepared to spend? You need a hairstyle that suits your face and your hair and your lifestyle. There's no one-fits-all hairstyle.

Dying your hair does not make you look younger, it makes you look like a middle aged person with dyed hair. I know there's a lot of pressure to dye your hair but don't kid yourself that it is youthful.

I think length always helps to make you look younger, so don’t chop too much off. A sensible short mum crop can be quite ageing. A fringe would be good and perhaps a few highlight in two or three colours. Less harsh than an all over colour and more forgiving when growing out

I disagree, for me I look younger with a very short pixie. I have lots of thick hair, and very little grey at almost 50. When it's short the thickness makes it look super healthy, when it's long it now drags my face down. I admittedly always suited short hair and am a petite hourglass so look very feminine even with very short hair.

I really don't thi k there's one rule for everyone, you need to find a good hairdresser and experiment. Which will in itself keep you looking young. TBH, although a good cut makes you feel great in reality it's the boring 'keep fit and a healthy weight' that has the biggest impact on looking young.

Fringe = cheap botox!

neveradullmoment99 · 29/05/2018 18:18

Not if you wear glasses. Fringe and glasses - not great.

thedevilinablackdress · 29/05/2018 18:40

Why do you think that Never ?

Have had both for years....👓👦

CountFosco · 29/05/2018 19:30

Think it depends on the fringe. I have a very short fringe and that is fine with glasses, DSis has a heavy fringe and she looks great with her glasses. When my fringe was longer it would annoy me once it was touching my glasses. But that was personal preference, generally I really like the look of glasses and fringe.

I’ve no advice for haircuts but I’ve been using this stuff for shedding hair. It really works and I don’t usually buy into ‘wonder’ products. It also smells nice and the conditioner feels lovely on the scalp. It’s Nioxin system 3

neveradullmoment99 · 29/05/2018 19:37

I think sometimes its just a bit too much if its quite a heavy fringe. Not for everyone though :) I suppose it depends upon the face shape etc.

I really like Sali Hughes hair but I imagine the styling takes too bit of time and effort. She has thinner hair

Laiste · 29/05/2018 19:40

I think overly 'done' hair is aging.

Not 100% of the time, obvs., but a lot of the time it's a certain age group who have that particular short, styled, coloured and sprayed rigidly into place look.
