My lips are awful.

And I’ve only just noticed, thanks to the stupid pout I can’t stop myself doing in the mirror.

But I’ve just taken a selfie (to rest the red bra/white top thing) and my lips horrendous. They’ve always been thin, but now they look dried out, wrinkled, and the colour has faded terribly. They look like they belong to an eighty-year-old with anemia. Sad

What can I do? I’m not against surgical options, but don’t have a lot of spare cash.

I’m 43, btw. The rest of me is ok, considering. But my lips...Shock

I was going to post this the other day. My lip colour has faded so much they sometimes look almost white. What's happening?

If they're a bit dry as well (like they have been all winter up until now) I look like a corpse.

I'm only mid-thirties! And I've recently had a whole panel of bloods (hormones, iron, thyroid etc) looking for causes of fatigue and nothing showed up.

MipMipMip · 26/05/2018 21:09

Carmex is the only thing that helps me when mine go dry and flaky (they bleed sometimes they get so bad). It's the squeezey tube I use (cheapest I've found is in savers!). That might be a starting point, if they are soft they tend to look redder. Sorry I can't suggest more.

Bound, yes that’s exactly how mine are! I look like the skin around is taking over from my actual lips. At this rate, I’ll have no lips left at all by the time I’m in my fifties.

Thanks Mip. I have loads of lip balms, but they don’t seem to do much. I might have some carmex around somewhere too, I’ll try that.

Give them a good scrub with a clean toothbrush every night, followed with a thick layer of something like lanolips. Lips are the first place to show signs of dehydration so make sure you’re drinking plenty! (Of water) Smile

It’s sun damage. I had really full lips years ago and plastered my face in sunblock everyday since I was 22 but didn’t buy a lip sunblock.

My lips are definitely thinner.

I use a superdrug lip block now but I’m 40 so it’s a bit late. I have an led face mask so I’m going to try the red setting on them every night for 5mins.

Nipple cream is the best lip moisturiser, Superdrug’s is 99p.

What about a CACI lip plumping treatment? Never done it myself but i do want to. Heard good things from online reviews

notmypropername · 27/05/2018 08:20

I had my lips filled last week with a tiny bit of filler. I wish I'd done it years ago!! This was me last night....

I had semi-permanent makeup injected as a liner to define the edges and then the main parts of my lips as a blush. But my lips are defo still thin, although having the lost colour back really does help.
After seeing @notmypropername s lips though, I am sooo tempted by a bit of filler.

But there is a right way round to do the filler and semi permanent makeup and I can't remember which so please, if you are considering both, look into which to get done first and the gap you need between the two processes.

notmypropername · 27/05/2018 08:58

Thanks rubber. Your better asking a professional but I'd say tattoo before filler as it may distort the filler x

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 27/05/2018 11:03

Hi Op
I have very full lips and recently after giving birth I noticed they were looking dry, crusty, wrinkly and old. I used expensive treatment oil, and nipple cream, carmex, vaseline, drank lots of water and still looked like my dear old departed gran's lips. So I decided on a whim to have some filler, juverderm 0.5ml and instantly they were back to normal. Nobody not even my DH has noticed, but I love them, and the dryness has completely gone.

UnderTheDesk · 27/05/2018 15:19

Thanks very much for all the suggestions. I’m going to work my way through them all, from the cheapest to the most expensive (filler) to see what works.

@fluffycloudland77 I’ve never heard of an led face mask before, but I’ve just googled them. Do you find your works well? I’m intrigued.
