Out of the blue opportunity to go, 3 nights hotel stay.
I’ve spent 2 days trying to find a couple of evening dresses, smart casual, external heat etc,
I’m 5f 5
Size 10/12
38

Also after the dreaded bikini 😬
Any ideas please!!!!!

Will you be going out much in the evening whilst there ? If you will mainly be socialising in the hotel just wear what you would normally wear for a night out. Everywhere has air con and don't worry that you have to be covered head to toe as Dubai is very touristy and people where whatever. I've been going for the last 16 years and I would just not wear anything too revealing whilst out and about, normal summer dresses will be fine. Have a lovely time and try and go to the Burj Khalifa to see the the fountains if you get chance , they are amazing. Where are you staying ?

Bear in mind it is Ramadan, and to be respectful more modest clothing, outside the hotel, is appreciated.
If you go to a mall the ac is freezing anyway so covering shoulders/knees isn't hard.
However if you want to totter about on stripper wedges, wearing hot pants and a vest, you will have plenty of Russians for company.

What is already in your wardrobe for summer clothes? Nothing you can use? A summer dress will be fine.
Take a pashmina or similar to cover if needed (religious or A.C. related).

Not sure about Dubai, but there are places here (just over the border) which insist on a one piece swimsuit. Might be worth chucking one in the suitcase also.

Enjoy. It's actually not ridiculously hot currently - tho the temperature has been ramping up this last week.

It's not the best time to go in Ramadan it will be pretty quiet in the day and then once breaking the fast is over it will get really busy. Try to go to an iftar meal. I always cover my shoulders and knees to feel comfortable.

www.bbc.com/travel/story/20120716-guidelines-for-spending-ramadan-in-dubai it's did years old but I don't think things have changed its a few years since I visited in Ramadan

Hi there, I live in Dubai.

Yes it is very hot and Ramadan too. So try to make sure shoulders and knees are covered. That said - I often find hot days at home more difficult to manage than hot days here - good AC is everywhere!

I buy most of my clothes from Next because they deliver here! It's not as glam as people make out in many places - you can be understated :) I'm going to an Iftar at a casual-ish hotel tonight and will wear a navy blue just above knee (I feel that is ok after Iftar time!) dress that covers my shouders, tan wedges and tan bag. Nice mani pedi and decent hair, make up and accessories get you a long way!

Remember - no eating or drinking in public during Ramadan (most cafes and restaurants are open behind closed doors). You will have a great time.

I’ve just bought this from COS www.cosstores.com/en_gbp/women/dresses/product.long-gathered-jersey-dress-navy.0644515003.html

It’s a lovely slinky material, cool in the heat, covered enough to be respectful and easy to dress up or down.

Thank you ladies
We are staying at the Grand Hyatt. Any more thoughts?

www.timeoutdubai.com/ you might find this helpful.

The Grand Hyatt will be gorgeous. Honestly, just bring what you would on a normal holiday plus a couple of shoulder cover ups. You’ll see people in a variety of clothes from teeny hot pants to traditional abayas! Dubai is not Saudi, no where near.
