Ideas of how to disguise missing toe nail?

I realise style and beauty may not be the right area.

Excuse my manky foot.
I had my toe nail removed year ago after it was ingrowing. They applied something on it to stop it growing back. But it looks a mess!

How can I disguise it in the summer?
The chiropodist said to paint the skin, but it flakes off withing hours. I've also tried a fake nail and that too just falls off v quickly due to shape of my nail bed.

You can see it's growing back slightly and I have to keep it trimmed back etc. But I only did that a few days ago! It's all v high maintenance and quite frankly embarrassing.

Any ideas? I appreciate it's an odd problem....

Has anyone ever used scotch tape to make a false nail stick where there is no original nail on toe nails. I have no nail on my big toe and haven’t had my feet out in public for years. I’m going on holiday soon and want to wear sandals. If anyone has an ideas or if anyone has the same problem and was able to get it fixed please please can you let me know. I am booked in to see a nail technician but I want to try do something while I’m waiting

I just go with the flow and let the world see mine! No-one has ever mentioned it!

My chiropodist works wonders with it, as a tiny bit starts growing back, even though it was treated during the surgery to prevent this.

Can someone on here who specialise in reconstruction toe nails please advise me on what to do or were to go as I never get my feet out due to have no nail on my big toe pleaseeeeee

Hi, can you tell me what you mean by plaster? Where do I find that to use on skin?

A nail technician (when they are back open!) Will be able to build a nail on there for you

Ive had the same problem with my big toes i had the nail totally removed and that stuff on so it never grew back, for the past 2 years i tried everything to attempt to get a false nail to stay on the nail bed, ive finally found a solution, at first i tried medical skin glue as its abit more water resistant than other glues n it the hold was really good for a couple of hours, ive recently just applied poly filler (literally for holes in walls) and filled the nail bed leaving it do try ...this gave a false nail effect n holds to skin really well, ive then super glued a false nail onto the poly filler and it feels super strong, im not sure how long this will last but so far so good and ill leave update on here if it holds in the bath and for a few days after...i hoope🤞

Oh dear. I have a great trick to share with you. Buy a multipack of Richmond sausages and a tube of Gorilla glue. Cut sausages to a size comparable to that of your missing digit and secure in place with the glue. Nobody would ever know!

Its stayed on all afternoon yesterday, lasted for the whole duration of a hot bath...one unfortunley did come ofg but the other hasnt so i reapplied the other it stayed on throughout the night and both are still on and feel even more stronger now the poly filler will have set properly...im over the moon with them im not sure how to post a pic to show you all how good and real the nail looks😊

Thank you for updating. Great it seems to be working. My sis has this issue so I am hoping to impress with my suggestion! I assume you researched any potential toxicity? It is surprising there is no real solution to this issue out there.

No problem love thats why ive posted hoping to help loads that have same issue its hard not to become fixated on it when it comes round to summer because you jist want to wear sandals instead of trainers ect lol what i did first before applying the filler i used a gorilla superglue on the skin first let thay set so it acts like a base for the filler to stick to then in with the filler to mould the nail shape then glue again then plastic toe nail n she can paint it how she likes, they will last longer if avoid a bath for a day or 2 it shoukd be skin safe ive reasearched it doesnt give any burning sensation or anything when applied, and i know ubfortuntly without a little bit of nail acrylic or gels wont attach they jst come straight off x

I'm back here as I've still got the same problem. I'm going to see if the nail reconstruction personal is still available (life got in the way-let say it's been a tough 3 years). My foot is worse than ever!

I've been googling and polygel has come up...anyone used it? To make your own falsie?

Honestly? Mine has been like this since I was 10. Have never done anything about it. I still paint the rest of my toenails. No body comments about it unless they are really nosy or curious. People really don't spend that much time looking at your feet.

Can you only have a nail put on if uou have a little bit of nail left ? I recently dropped a unit on my big toe and literally all the nail has now come off im off on hols soon and just need to have a temp fix not sure what to do painting its no good it just flakes off
