Get your self down to London!

Book yourself a shopping assistant in Selfridges, Harvey Nicks and Liberty.

They will find something GORGEOUS for you!

Also a few mumnnetters have talking about a very flattering dress from Hobbs.- with great cleavage and dolka spots, very flattering for the curvy body!

Check the website - it coudl suit you!

Goooooood luck!

escape · 18/05/2007 20:36

oooh thanks Chelseamum - will have apeek.
actually, been thinking about flying over for weekend (ooh how glam do i sound) would save the airfare on british bargains as opposed to marked up tat here!

anyone seen any maxi- dresses with straps?

Have a look in Hobbs or Phase Eight , or maybe Principles

Maxi dresses v hard to get right IMO, esp if you are tall and curvey - too tentlike.
Heels will make the most of any calves.
If arms are doubtful better to go for something sleeved.

I had a fab wedding in St John in the Virgin Islands but that was a hippy one!

I agree with the fact that Americans make a more of an effort than your average Enlgish wedding.

Think upper class British wedding - you are on the right path!

You have to be also veeeery well groomed- hair, manicure, pedicure and great skin!

You lucky thing.... New York!!!

Don't stay at the HUDSON HOTEL is shiiit!

Bloody Philiip Starck and Ian Shrager hotel.... bloody shit!

Verso · 19/05/2007 21:26

I agree with pinkspotty. Was tempted to say "parp" but don't want to sound too like upper-middle-class mumsnet-ite. Obviously I'm just at your invitation but really wonder sometimes at mumsnet whether I'm in fact posh enough to join in!

WendyWeber · 19/05/2007 21:33

Central Park in August? Outside??? You will need a size 16 coolbag

pinkspottywellies · 19/05/2007 23:04

What does 'parp' mean? I see it quite a lot and I still haven't figured it out

WendyWeber · 19/05/2007 23:12

About 1-2 days in 7 it won't be humid, if it helps

We lived on Long Island for a while and I commuted into lower Manhattan during July, August and September one year; the humidity used to build over a few days until we got a crashing thunderstorm, and then it would be bearable for the next 1-2 days before it started building again. If you are lucky the wedding will be on one of the fresh days

MrsBadger · 20/05/2007 10:35

wellies, it's the sound of the poster's internal siren stopping them posting on a thread that will only make them angry / rude / sweary
