Hairdresser. Deliberately putting wrong colour on.

I have been going to the same hairdresser for about eight years. I go regularly every six weeks for a cut and blow dry and every twelve weeks for a semi-permanent colour.

The colour has always been admired by friends for the way it blended with my natural colour and how my grey hair was barely noticeable although not fully coloured.
I was surprised when I went for my latest appointment that the colour in the bowl was quite orange as previously it has been a creamy yellow. I had asked her to blend three shades when I started going to her. Three years ago I asked her to leave the darkest shade out as I was getting greyer and wanted it to tone in better.
As she started she said j"Just your usual" and I commented it seemed a different shade. I knew she wasn't telling the truth when she said it was the same as usual. Later she said that hair always fades in the sun.
When finished it was obviously darker. My husband says it is darker. My complexion is quite sallow as I age and it give. s me a hard look, I feel. Also my head has been throbbing. Until I wash it I can't feel certain that she hasn't used a permanent colour on it as it just looks different.
What do I do? I have always liked the way she cuts hair but I am distressed that she would do this.
Is there anything I can do to lighten it?

Get a good sleep and then give it a wash in the morning. If your not happy call the manager and explain, especially the part where you knew he colour was wrong and questioned it

Unfortunately she rents a chair in one of the top salons in the town. So she is self-employed.

Shitty hairdressing and very unprofessional but unless there’s something you’re not mentioning I’m not convinced it was malicious and she did it deliberately. Probably more likely she didn’t check your record, got it wrong then tried to lie her way out of her mistake by saying it will lighten in the sun, as if you don’t know the hair colour you’ve had for the past 8 years....

Definitely complain. The manager will want to know as it gives the salon a bad rep even if she is technically self employed. If you trust her enough to give her another shot then ask her to fix it. If not then wash your hair a couple of times to see if it fades at all and then go and see another hairdresser.

Thank you for your replies. I washed it very thoroughly this morning 4 times!. It is still darker than normal although perhaps not as bad. I think it was probably a semi- permanent as I can still see some lighter bits.
I am still quite upset that this has happened. My hair is probably my best feature.

Head and shoulders shampoo strips colour apparently. Always recommended on here to help fix colour disasters. Good luck

Using a clay mask, like the type of clay you’d use as a face pack, or body treatment, helps take dye out of hair without the damage caused by chemical dye removers, so worth a try maybe? You’d need to buy a big jar though.
