Need a new bra! Where to go?

I have an assortment of badly fitting bras in various stages of end of life , been through 2 pregnancies and births in the past 3 years and time for a change I think. Live in a big city and close to London too so a range of shops.
I'm youngish and am not fluctuating in weight so feel this is the right time to buy. Where should I be looking?

Bravissimo

abitoflight · 23/05/2018 08:42

I like Debenhams for bra's or hof as they have lots of different brands so you can try lots of different sizes/brands which all fit differently without having to get repeatedly undressed

mossyroundhill · 23/05/2018 08:44

I've just bought two from M&S and they are the best fit I've had in a long time!

SparkwoodAnd21 · 23/05/2018 08:45

Brastop is excellent, have you measured yourself properly? It makes a world of difference. I went from 34c/d to 30ff and it’s so much better.

Don't go to M&S for a fitting, but if you know your size and don't go near the salespeople, the bras are OK.

Asda bras are surprisingly good and extremely cheap.

Debenhams have an excellent range.

Bravissimo is best for getting a good fit.

userabcname · 23/05/2018 09:09

Yes definitely a fitting at Bravissimo. I second that Asda bras are surprisingly comfortable and incredible value for money - I bought a pack of 2 T shirt bras for £6 in the sale fully expecting them to be a bit crap and they are now my favourite bras.

Cacofonix · 23/05/2018 09:17

My advice is to get fitted and buy one bra only from Rigby and Peller. Go to the Conduit St branch. It's the best one. Then armed with a good bra and knowledge, shop around. Bravissimo is good. Also House of Fraser usually has a good bra department.

Branleuse · 23/05/2018 09:36

what do you want out of a bra and have you been sized properly ?

I live in Molke as much as possible but I'll wear gossard glossies under a strappy top or a freya deco if I want cleavage

Misty9 · 23/05/2018 09:41

I second asda for bras. My local one doesn't have a fitting room so I took a chance and they are the best fit I've found for a while. Just plain t shirt type bras. I struggled in m&s, Debenhams and John Lewis and couldn't find anything that fitted properly. Other bonus is asda ones are cheap as chips so I don't need to worry about them getting ruined in the wash!

Misty9 · 23/05/2018 09:41

I should say I am very small of nork though

villageshop · 23/05/2018 09:47

That measuring link makes me 30H!

I've been wearing 34D, no wonder they never feel or look right.

desperatehousewife101 · 23/05/2018 09:49

I'm very small of nork also! Was thinking I could stretch to one Rigby and Peller bra , and then work from there. Could probably do with 1 black and 1 nude

I went to R and P and DD also goes. I second the Conduit Street branch too. Then go to Sketch for tea!!!

Once you know a size, you could then look at brands that are a bit cheaper. The RandP ones wash well though.

AmethystRaven · 23/05/2018 09:58

Bravissimo. I was really sceptical about the sizing on the bra intervention threads as it was way way off my 34DD, but the lady in bravissimo fitted me to one size off the crazy measurement by sight and it's the best fit I ever had! It changed my whole shape and I got a few compliments. I was so happy after a million awful bra fittings.

Waspnest · 23/05/2018 12:38

Yep I second (or third or fourth) ASDA. They do some lovely non-padded small back large cup size bras (though you do have to search the racks a bit) that are really comfy.

desperatehousewife101 · 23/05/2018 12:38

Think I will try bravissimo and r&p as have no idea what size I am

OP posts:
Branleuse · 23/05/2018 13:07

if you're not big chested or an unusual size I think you can just take your pick in most shops. Probably no need to go to the expense of rigbyand peller etc

villageshop · 23/05/2018 13:26

Short slim stature with narrow back & enormous boobs = impossible to get the right fit.

Robinsegg · 23/05/2018 13:27

Selfridges, totally brilliant. You have to make an appointment online to see a fitter but it’s free and they are incredibly helpful and patient and no obligation to buy anything. The lovely fitters bring you bra after bra to try on, lots of advice on the size and which style will be right for you. No hard sell and I came away with 3 perfectly fitting bras which are bliss to wear.

GunpowderAndLead · 23/05/2018 13:30

Omg 30GG with boob or bust Shock

grownup2 · 23/05/2018 13:42

Yes Selfridges are very helpful and patient but I was disappointed that they were really limited in range in my size 34H. I think Bravissimo would be a better bet for large cup sizes.

coldcoldstar · 24/05/2018 11:04

I'm 34G - I second Bravissimo. Excellent service. Then, once you know your size and how the bras should fit, brastop

peonyandrose · 26/05/2018 20:20

I went to R&P today and a tad lighter I have 2 new bras and 2 pants :)
Feeling a lot more comfortable with them and much better quality than my old ones.

princessbear80 · 26/05/2018 21:42

Definitely recommend Debenhams. I recently had the best bra fitting ever. Bras are so comfy, I get to the end of the day forgetting I’m wearing a bra. If you’re north of London, the Stevenage Debenhams is the one I went to.
