City break packing and romance! Help!

Hello!
I'm off to Glasgow in June for a city break with a lover Grin

I'm flying and only taking hand luggage as do not want the extra charges or hassle. I'm going for 4 days but two of those will incorporate travel.

What to pack? And wear?

I want to look effortlessly put together and a bit sexy if those two can be done as one?
I anticipate lots of walking so need practical cloths and comfy shoes.

I'm in the Westcountry and recent weather has seen me nearly naked here, what's the temp difference up there?
Ice only ever done Scotland in the winter, can I get away with a strappy dress for day time?

I haven't flown for years, what's the deal with cosmetics and hand luggage?
Does everything to be in clear white containers?
What about cream?
And contact lenses plus solution?
What about medication and supplements?

Thank you

From a clueless wannabe Traveller!

Glasgow can be quite wet so pack a lightweight raincoat or brolly. June can be warm but not guaranteed!
Hand luggage you can take 1000ml of liquid made up of no more that 100ml per item. All needs to fit into a clear bag approx A5 size.

You can always buy stuff at Boots once you are through security or at Superdrug in Glasgow.
Strappy dress ok but bring a cardigan too.

All liquids and gels need to be in bottles under 100ml. If there’s anything you want to take that’s in a bigger bottle then you need to decant it into a smaller one but otherwise original packing is fine, no need to put into clear/white bottles. Then at the airport you need to put all the liquids/gels into a clear plastic bag. The airport give you this but to give you an idea it’s about the size of a small sandwich bag. Everything has to fit into the one plastic bag.
You haven’t mentioned it but no sharps in the hand luggage although a disposable razor or blunt ended tweezers would be fine.
Yes you can take medication, not sure if it’s required for UK domestic but I would keep it in original containers just in case.
Never been to Glasgow so can’t comment on the weather but I generally go with layers and one pair of comfy shoes/one pair of going out in the evening shoes when packing for a city break.
Have a great time Grin

Check the Met Office website for the Glasgow forecast a few days before you leave: www.metoffice.gov.uk
Almost certainly, you'll find Glasgow colder than SW England. Today, for example, the Met Office site shows that there's is sun but also an East-North-East wind. Right this minute, the temp is 12 C. That's not hot.

Glasgow is a busy working, commercial city not a beach resort so strappy dresses not appropriate - in my opinion - for daytime. (I wouldn't think them ideal for the middle of London, either.) And it will probably be too chilly for them - if you are venturing outside - without a cover-up (wrap, pashmina etc) in the evening.
Having said that, there are smart/formal areas of Glasgow and not-so-smart/more informal. It will of course depend where you are staying. If you are planning to do sightseeing - Glasgow has excellent museums, art galleries, parks etc - or a lot of shopping, then remember some comfy footwear. Glasgow has long, wide streets and quite a few gentle but noticeable hills.

Sexy jeans and neutral layers on top for day, black leggings with a pretty top, heeled ankle boots and a light trench coat for evenings. Your favourite jewellery. I often find that having nice hair and makeup makes me feel sexy rather than what I'm wearing; treat yourself in the airport and take the time you need to beautify your gorgeous self before you go out. A nice negligee to slip into at the hotel could turn up the romance factor... have fun 😉

Thank you.
Glasgow really is a wonderfully diverse city; if you walk along Buchanan Street - the main fashion shopping street - you will see a real mixture of clothing styles, from very formal office wear to eclectic student, tourist/ hiker and round-the world styles from many traditions. So if you would like to wear a strappy dress in the daytime, then no-one will care in the slightest. You might just find it a wee bit chilly, however! Smile

The airport give you this (plastic bag)

Some airports charge, typically £1.

Brill thanks for all the updates guys, I feel much calmer now, think I can pack it all into hand luggage as long as I'm sensible!
