Any help with what to wear to an event appreciated - I am clueless!

My husband’s company has organised a weekend away at a hotel, to include a family fun-day type event and due to his position, we are expected to attend.

From the schedule, it appears children eat first in the evening, then they have babysitters for younger children and the parents will have pre-dinner drinks, followed by dinner and entertainment in a marquee.

I have never been to anything like this before and have never met anyone from my husband’s company before, so to be honest, am absolutely dreading it. I am also completely clueless as to what sort of outfit I should wear to the dinner. They haven’t suggested a dress code, but I am assuming people will all change from their ‘fun-day’ casual clothes before going to dinner. I was hoping to see some photos from last year’s event, but haven’t been able to.

I am absolutely hopeless at this. I don’t wear dresses - ever, as I have awful legs due to a physical disability. I have forced myself into a dress once or twice for weddings and felt awful the whole time. Maxi dresses just make me look pregnant (34HH chest). Fitted leg trousers are also a problem due to my twisted legs. Oh and I really hate my upper arms. I have tried on some of the florals that are around this summer and I feel like walking walpaper! I prefer plain and simple, understated clothes.

I am no spring chicken and a size 16 (well on my way to a 14) hourglass, although my waist is not as defined as it used to be now I’m touching 50. I hate clothes shopping, because nothing feels or looks right on me and it’s extremely rare to find something that actually flatters. In the summer I generally stick with slightly cropped jeans/jeggings or wide leg linen trousers with a more fitted top.

What on earth can I wear? I have trawled through countless clothing shops online, been on pinterest - even tried google images and still have no idea.

Help!

I searched blue wedges on eBay and they popped up in the results. I'm a huge EBay fan Smile

Whatever you choose ( I like the navy Bravissimo jumpsuit best ) remember that marquees can be really chilly . The last do we went to my feet froze ! Make sure you have a warm throw or scarf !
