Brazilian blow dry/keratin treatment - some qs

Hello
Some question!
Are these the same thing? Anyone had it done? Is it worth me going to the hairdresser (through groupon though I don't think I can justify £300) or can I do it as Home?
If yes, what product should I use and any tips?
I have middle length hair prime to frizz. I have a lot of hair but it's quite thin so I'm a bit concerned by it looking flat - it can do a bit if I straighten it. Will the keratin still make my hair all glossy and straight and lovely or will I look like a damp squid!?

Brazilian blow dry is a type of keratin treatment. I have Nano Keratin- which is lovely, they do it at a lot of salons (pretty certain Toni and Guy all do it). Keratin/Brazilian blow drys don't straighten your hair though- it is literally a smoothing treatment. So my hair is now less fluffy but still has a curl unless blow dries straight. Has more gloss and shine to it.

Forgot to add- £300 sounds very expensive for it- is about half that at most salons

Oh that sounds perfect - smoothing not straightening.

Is one type of treatment preferable to the other? I might pay £150 (max) for salon if much better than at home....

Nanokeratin has no formaldehyde in it. Brazilian blow drys tend to. I really like mine, but I think it's very specific to hair type how you get on with it. If you want it less fluffy and smoother then it's great (just be aware, it doesn't totally get rid of ALL fluffiness when blow dried- you'll still have to use straighteners/Wanda but it does drastically reduce it). I find it quicker to blow dry as well now.

I think it would be really hard to do at home to be honest as they have to go over teeny tiny sections of hair with straighteners loads of tones during the treatment.

I would suggest you get it done in a salon first and if you're happy with the results you could then buy the kit off Amazon and do it yourself next time (having seen how it's done in the salon).

I had one two weeks ago.
You don’t need any product.

I use a kit off Amazon for about £27. I've just done it for the third time (3 applications from one kit). It's amazing and has completely transformed my hair. I never used to wear it down, as it went so frizzy and now only wear it down.

I get my mum to do it for me Grin.

Alex what do you use?
