Hi, I'm nearly 38, never been good at make up or skin care. Now age and 2 kids catching up. Have oily dehydrated skin, large pores which seem to be getting worse and is getting me down but only limited budget.Went to Bobbi brown make up session today. She recommends: soothing cleansing oil; hydrating face tonic; hydrating eye cream; vitamin enriched face base; smoothing pore perfector; foundation stick in natural tan 4:25. I looked up prices, nearly £200! Think I'm going to get the foundation stick and wld like to get cheaper options for the rest of stuff. Any recommendations? From my own research, I'm going to try some jojabo oil frkn Holland & Barrett, the rosy poche sunscreen stuff and the gly-something acid from superdrug. Does this sound ok? Any other ideas? My skin is so greasy that make up has mostly slid off by a couple of hours. I know skin will never be perfect as pores so large but just want to look as nice as possible! Thanks very much for any tips or thoughts

Superdrug have some great budget skincare. The Naturally Radiant line is very good (especially the hot cloth cleanser and the toner pads)I also really like the Simply Pure serum- is hydrating and non greasy (also crazy cheap!).

Another vote for Superdrug, I’ve switched from Eve Lom to their B. Micellar oil and water cleansers.

I really rate boots no 7. I don't have anything along the lines that you mention but do have a very good toner. Might be worth checking them out, they often do lots of offers and you can collect boots points.

You can cleanse with grape seed oil from an online massage supplies company. It’s really cheap, I use it an and pm.

Superdrug Glycolic acid toners very good.

The ordinary salicylic acids great for oily skin and enlarged pores, the caffeine’s great for eyes I definitely look more awake when I’ve used it.

No idea on moisturiser, I don’t use one as they all break me out.

Singlenotsingle · 18/05/2018 07:06

Superdrug do an amazing concealer called Revolution. It's £4.

Biologifemini · 18/05/2018 07:06

Agree grape seed oil is the best
You need some niacinamide as that reduces redness and hopefully pore size too
Otherwise a cheaper acid
200 quid is ridiculous and you don’t need to spend that either

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 07:18

I forgot about nicanamide with zinc (the ordinary) my skin hated it layered over Reservatrol but loves it over salicylic acid. I only use it am because I use an antioxidant overnight called euk.

The ordinary do a 30% Glycolic peel, it’s a once a week thing but really works on pores.

RayDropofGoldenSun · 18/05/2018 07:19

There are other foundation sticks out there too that are great quality. E.l.f. Do one that's lovely, easy to use and blends well

Mooey89 · 18/05/2018 07:22

You need the ordinary!!!

Get a good cleanser, exfoliator, retinol, and moisturiser. The ordinary is really affordable and so good!!

I love maybeline fit me for cheaper foundation/concealer.

Superdrug make up revolution is good dupe of higher end.

Another one raving about the Superdrug Naturally Radiant range. A friend I hadn't seen for a few weeks was very complimentary about how nice my skin was looking so I passed on the details. She ended up having to order online as the shops were sold out - seems very popular!

Lovemedo345 · 18/05/2018 07:24

Thanks a lot. With the micellor water, what is this used for? Is it for taking off make up? The bb woman yesterday put hydrating face tonic on me first which felt lovely and cut through greasiness so am looking for alternative to this? And anyone recommend a good budget moisturizer which has primer in as well? Thank you

These will help. The only thing I disagree with her on is sunblock. I wear it religiously 365 days a year.

Confusssed · 18/05/2018 09:47

Doesn't she agree with sun block every day?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/05/2018 10:29

No she’s said to get a little bit for Vit d but the face isn’t a terribly large area anyway. I’ve been using sunblock on my face for 19 years.

I take vitamin d anyway because you can’t make it in this country October to March.

A colleague of my mums died of melanoma in the early 1970’s and her specialist said they thought it was caused by sun exposure so she always put sunblock on me.
