GHD curling wand

A hair stylist used a GHD curling wand in my hair for a wedding and I had no end of compliments. She created lovely loose curls quite swiftly and they stayed in til I had to wash my hair again. I've a birthday coming up. Is there a cheaper alternative to the GHDs?

Have you tried curling your hair with straightening irons? The curls/waves last a couple of days or until you wash your hair. I have super straight hair that usually pings back to bring straight within hours of being tonged. But using straighteners tends to keep the curls.

And I only used cheapo Remington ceramic straightest

As much as you want to save money, the thing with cheap alternatives is that they usually just don't give the same result, so you'll likely be disappointed.

Could you look into buying a second hand set of GHDs from eBay and learning how to curl with a straightener? Plenty of YouTube tutorials. I'd also go for a Cloud9 straightener over GHD, but just personal preference. Similar price.

Unfortunately having tried several wands you get what you pay for. Mine is a Cloud 9 wand which is about the same price as GHD and I have never had anything like the same results with the cheaper Remingtons etc.

Thanks for the replies. I can NOT curl my hair with straighteners!! I've tried for years!
