I've just got a new job so need to get out of my student comfiness and wear suitable attire again Grin

Before student life, I wore dresses and heels in my admin role but I'd like to look a little more 'professional' than I used to. Can anyone recommend any styles/shops that will suit a 5'1" size 12 - 14 (closer to 14/16 on the bottom)?

I want to make a good impression as soon as I start. It's NHS so there's such a wide range of what people are wearing! I'm the coordinator for a brand new project and will be working with all sorts of people, internal and external, but not expecting any patient contact if that make any difference whatsoever.

Please help me with your collective wisdom Smile

I'm in the same place as you!! new job starting in 3 weeks and need some smarter clothes, if I see anything during my search I'll link to it for you.
I'm 5'5'' and a 16 btw

I’m also in the same place! Start in a couple of weeks. I’m stuck in a rut of skinny black trousers, blouses and blazers.

New place is much smarter so I need some new staple. I’ll also share whilst I’m browsing.

I’m 5’5” and a 10

Thank you both!

I haven't even started looking properly but feel I need to get out to actual shops to gauge what suits me better. I'll keep an eye out and post back here if I have any luck. Well, I will once my final exam is out of the way Confused

I feel the same. I normally shop in phase eight, coast etc but that is for one off key pieces.

I’d really like to move away from skinny trousers and blazers maybe into dresses. Comfort is the key though.

Oh, and good luck with the exam!

I actually got a really nice pair of sort of khaki trousers in Tesco the other week - I'm 5ft4 and they're like ankle grazer length on me. Actually I got a nice dress from there as well recently.

Trousers are a bit of a new thing for me workwise. I like to wear them with 3/4 sleeved tunicy-blousey tops, generally from Primark. Mostly I wear dresses or stretchy pencil skirts (Primark again for some nice patterned ones - usually wear them just with a black or white top and a cardi). Can you tell I don't like spending much on my workwear? 😬

If you want to go smarter then I like H&M for the more suity type dresses/skirts. They often have A-line dresses in as well which I much prefer to fitted styles.

When I got my first office role, I placed an order on everything5pounds.com. Really good range of workwear, and obviously super cheap so you can get a good supply in without spending too much.

Reiss ted bakers all saints are the best shops for work wear
Zara and Tesco if your on a budget

Thank you for all of the suggestions everyone, and for the good luck wishes, daily!

I haven't looked in the supermarkets yet but I might have a look next time I go shopping. Primark isn't too close but I'll have a trip out to see what they currently have in.

I love H & M but I feel like their workwear is a little too 'work' and not enough comfort Grin

Egg, I've heard really mixed reviews about everything5pounds so I'm a little reluctant to spend what little student loan I have left with them but I'll take a look.
