Redness around nose and nasolabial folds

pearlkent · 14/05/2018 18:05

Why and what can I do?
I thought it was broken veins, and there are a few, but really it's just a general redness. I don't think it's rosacea as it's not sore or lumpy.
It looks awful.
Can anyone advise?

Green tinted concealer is supposed to be good for toning down redness

Daisydoesnt · 14/05/2018 20:58

is it just redness, or is there any occasional dryness too? I had something like that for ages and ages around my nose and it finally turned out to be seborrheic dermatitis.

Oh yes I always forget about the green concealer - I do have some so I'll have a go with it.
However I's really like to get rid of it completely without having to pile make-up on.
Daisy - hmm, could be a bit dry sometimes. How was yours diagnosed (GP or dermatologist) and how did you cure it?

The GP - although it did take a couple of visits. Even when I read about it on the inter web afterwards I didn't think mine particularly looked like other cases/ same symptoms. Locum GP was convinced that's what it was and proscribed some shampoo (!) which I had to use for a fortnight I think and then once a week. It cleared up almost instantly and in 18 months has not come back. Apparently seborrheic dermatitis is caused by a fungi which lives in your hair. disgusting i know. The shampoo cured it, and I had been trying various creams/ steroids etc on my face which I was very unhappy about using. Good luck :0)

Watching with interest.

Daisy - which shampoo was it please? So when you cleared your scalp, it cleared your face is that what you are saying?

TIA

Watching!

The shampoo is Dandrazol 2%. I might add I had no symptoms in terms of my hair/ scalp - Ive never had dandruff or any flaking etc. When the doctor said I had a fungal thing which was in my hair and causing the redness on my face/ nose I was pretty stunned & fairly sceptical! But it did work and more or less straight away,

I have sebborhea but my doctor just said to use non oily products. Could you tell me a little more about this shampoo that was prescribed to you?
