Is organic clothing really worth more?

I'm trying to find out whether organic baby clothing is worth the higher price to conventional cotton baby clothing?

It’s difficult to say. It’s clearly worth more to some people as they are willing to pay, but that’s probably not too helpful to you.

Not to me it isn't.

I suspect people who want organic clothes are a subset of those who want organic food.

Thus there will be higher prices due to
a) more expensive production methods
b) lower demand so no economies of scale

But not 'worth' it to me, in as much as I wouldn't buy at the higher prices that would need to be charged as personally I don't value the 'organicness'.

For me, organic cotton is definitely worth the higher price. Better for the babies skin (especially if sensitive), lasts longer and washes better than non-organic.

Cotton farming uses a phenomenal amount of pesticides
I can't remember the exact stat but it's something like 10% of all pesticides sold are used on cotton crops even their accounts for 1% of worldwide farming.

So if you value the world's water systems and the health of farmers in the developing world, organic cotton is worth more

On a practical note, it tends to be used by premium brands so will inherently be better quality and better made than the 5-for-£5 multipacks from supermarkets.
