Altering clothes to fit post-baby body changes

my body shape since having a baby 11 months ago has changed slightly.

I was always a size 14 (sometimes 12 ) bottoms and size 12 top.

Ive lost all but the final few pounds of baby weight and am back in my old clothes, apart from a few of my favourite dresses.

These are generally fit and flare styles which fit nicly around my waist and hide any of the wobbly tum thats left.

However, they are far too tight over my boobs now.

My boobs are the same size volume wise, but my rib cage seems to be wider.

My measurements at the moment are:

waist 30.5
back 32
chest 38
hips 42

The dresses I want to wear again effectivly squash my boobs into one big flat monoboob.

Is it at all possible that a seemstress could alter them to fit just around the chest area?

I get clothes altered quite regularly but I tend to buy big and get them taken in rather than the other way round, so the honest answer is, I'm not sure. I think the thing to do is to find a reputable seamstress (recommendation is best if you don't know one) and just take the dresses in and ask. In my experience they won't take on a job unless they're confident they can do it well.

The other thing that struck me - and apologies if you've already tried this - was whether a different bra would make a difference?

Are you still BF or have you recently stopped? If so, I’d hold fire for the moment.
It took my body about 3 months to return to pre-baby norm after stopping BF - something about the hormones changed the way my body stored fat (not just on the chest, but all over)
