Opinions on this dress, whether I can wear it the way I want to wear it and if I am too old to wear it on the school run?

Bought this. Looks nice on, I think. BUT I am NOT an off-the-shoulder person at all. I have very broad shoulders so when I tried it on it just sort of sat on the edges of my shoulders creating kind of a Bardot neckline. Which I liked. Can I wear it this way, do you think, or will is look like I'm an idiot who doesn't realise it's meant to be worn pulled right down off the shoulders?

The way I'm wearing it, sitting on the edge of the tops of my shoulders, seems to suit me quite well and frames my head/face well, if that makes sense. Cos I'm so wide across the shoulders, the fabric doesn't massively sag wierdly, either, I mean it obviously isn't taut at all and it does drape down but it isn't much of an issue. I don't think.

Plus, it's going to be v warm tomorrow. Can I wear it on the school run (with white trainers) or will I look like I've lost my way to the nearest beach?

for context, I am 40 (look a couple of years younger) and a size 10 (on my bottom half, size roughly 1 million on my top half due to aforementioned massive shoulders.)

I don't usually do dresses so this is a BIG STEP for me Grin forgive me if these are all very stupid questions.

Love the dress, and no way! It'll look great with white trainers (v on trend and weather appropriate) - also doesn't matter how low it sits on the shoulders either!!

Thank you cupcakes!! Reassuring to hear.

Ooh that's nice. I don't do school runs anymore but I'd have worn it when I did and yes white trainers are so trendy with dresses.
I have really broad shoulders too and it's a nightmare buying tops and dresses. I always have to size up 🙄

Sounds nice the way you describe it. I think you should wear it Smile

Thanks everyone. Confidence boosted. I will do it (and hide behind DD if neccessary)

I dare say it'll look better on you than on the model, what awful posture she has!

Pep and co have some similar cheap and cheerful dresses/tops if you decide you really like it and want some more in that style

FoofFighter · 14/05/2018 12:26

Probably shouldn't mention pep and co on S&B though BlushGrin

Ha, Foof, I kind of agree about the model, though if so it'll be the first time a model has ever looked worse than me in anything! She looks ever so hunched, though, my mum would be telling me to stand up straight if that were me!

It will look good with trainers 👍.

JessiCake · 14/05/2018 12:37

OH, sorry to keep asking the most inane question but just realised my much-loved white trainers are slip-on style. Do you all think trainers worn with dresses need to be lace-up style? Can stretch to a cheapie pair of canvas lace-ups if so!! Saw some for about a fiver while out shopping and wish I'd got them now! My white slip-ons are fab though as they're the only shoes I have EVER worn without socks that don't rub.

Anything trainery would work IMO. Slip ons ok.

JessiCake · 14/05/2018 13:36

Thx v much megle, I'm going to go with my trusty Geox slip-ons so I can avoid blisters!
