Gradual tanning lotion novice questions (clueless and about to add to cart)

Dear all, I am contemplating buying Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk. I have never ever used a self tanner before and I am fair. My skin always burns, and tans just a tiny bit. Of course skin on my legs is the whitest, as it is not on show daily like my face/arms/decollete (I live in a v sunny country). But still legs are not shockingly different from the rest of me, I 'm all white.
My questions:

  1. Is Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk a great option or should I try another brand like tanluxe (the gradual)?
Regarding my natural coloring, I am a cool winter, so I need a cool hue, nothing orangey. I want a gradual tanning lotion as I don't want to go full fake tan, I am certain it will end up in me with streaks/spots/multiple weird colours, so I want something virtually foulproof that I can easily apply the night before, and in the morning I can shower and moisturize as usual. Plus, I only want to add glow and subtle colour to even out any skin redness (I have KP on my legs, bum and upper arms) and reduce appearance of cellulite (lol thats a wonder I am asking for here I know).
  1. My biggest question: I mainly want it for my legs, but I realise that will make my legs a different colour than the rest of me. So I have to do the whole body. But where do I stop? Do I have to also do the neck and the face? Where Is it ok to stop? And how the f*ck do you do your own back? Do you get acne if you put this stuff on your face? Should I get a different product for my face, more appropriate for sensitive skin? (I have combination, acneic skin)

I realize I am asking a lot but I am such a n00b, so please guide me!

I have the Bondi Sands gradual tanning mousse, in the turquoise bottle. I tried it last night and it was so easy to apply as its a light mousse. This morning I have a very light tan, there are no streaks and it’s not orange at all. Definately need to do it again tonight to build it up, I will do my arms and chest every other application to try to get my legs a similar colour to my arms which aren’t as white and pasty as my legs.
I don’t bother with my back, although if the tan builds up to a decent tan colour I will get Dh or one of the teens to do it for me, but they will want a mitt as they won’t want it on their hands !
This is the best one I have ever bought.

And yes I would get a specific face self tan, I wouldn’t put any body product on my face as I have sensitive skin. I use it up to my neck but as it’s so light it looks fine. I prefer to use a bit of bronzer on my face then a fake tan.

Hi Pinklips

I can't comment on that brand of gradual tanner as it's not one I have used, although I have used lots of others.

They are pretty foolproof tbh, you need to be careful of dry skin areas. Always exfoliate before each use, rub in properly, leave to dry thoroughly before sleep, exercise, tight clothing or you can get sweat patches.

Dry skin areas like Knees, elbows etc can turn orange/patchy. I just moisturise these areas with a generic moisturiser before and after applying gradual tan.

I wouldn't use a body version on my face, although if you didn't have any skin problems, occasionally wouldn't hurt. They do make face specific gradual tanner - clarins do a good one. The biggest thing to remember for your face - is blending into hairline, combing it out of your eyebrows and extra moisturiser for the dry bits.

You can build up gradual tanner until you get to the colour that you want, one coat is unlikely to make a huge difference and one coat on your legs wouldn't necessarily mean you have to do your whole body. Although if you are planning on a few coats I would do arms, chest etc.

Hope this helps Smile

Oh Harryrotter and positivepineapple thank you so much for your input!

I will buy the lotion, but nothing for my face for now, as I will probably expect and see how the 1st application will be. What I understand is I have 2 options:

  1. legs only
  2. whole body plus special lotion for face, as you cannot stop at the neck I guess.
