Fake tan - please help

Barbaro · 10/05/2018 21:26

Please help me, I am going on holiday later in the year and I really dont want to look the same shade as snow. Not even an exaggeration.

But as I am so white and a red head, don't think I can pull off the 'orange' look. And don't really want that either. I just want to be slightly tanned to hopefully hide the cellulite on my legs.

Any advice on products? I'd rather not get a spray on tan done at a shop and not going on a sunbed.

Thanks Smile

If you can afford it, St Tropez every time. I like the gradual every day moisturiser, it makes a difference within a few days and builds colour gradually. St Moritz is a good second best. I am also a lily white, non tanner! I use the medium to dark shade in the St Tropez and it has never ever looked orange on me. If I proper fake tan (not gradual moisturiser) I always use a mit to ensure it applies evenly.
Good luck!

LastOneDancing · 10/05/2018 21:38

I agree St. Tropez is the best and a mitt is essential.
I use the mousse but I like a good orange tan Grin

You can get St Tropez much cheaper online than Boots etc.

I’ll go against St Tropez here and although I think it’s a fab fake tan I think He-Shei is better, lasts longer and fades more easily.

It’s my favourite although I’m thinking of Island Paradise as my next try, it does three ranges ( fair to dark) and looks interesting .

HolyMountain · 10/05/2018 21:48

*Isle of Paradise

I’ve just used the skinny tan gradual tanner for the first time - it’s called body glow and comes in a pump bottle. I’ve tried loads and this is the best I’ve ever tried.

Barbaro · 11/05/2018 19:57

Thanks shall try them. Just don't want a streaky orange tan, just want to look a bit less pale really.

St Tropez is orange. Even the gradual stuff.

I have recently discovered and now swear by Bondi Sands everyday stuff - it's in a turquoise bottle. Apply with a mitt (few quid on amazon). It really gives a lovely glow that is there but not obvious or tango-y at all.

WindyBee · 11/05/2018 20:03

I use Cocoa Brown mousse from Primark. 1 hour tan then you shower. Love it!

threefeet · 11/05/2018 20:28

I literally cannot think of anything more terrifying than a Primark self tan. Grin

Wolfcub · 11/05/2018 20:29

I’m a pale red head. I like balance me tan drops. You just add them to your normal moisturiser

wulliesbucket · 11/05/2018 22:28

The primark one is amazing!

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 12/05/2018 19:53

I can vouch for the cocoa brown mousse from Primark. Goes on well with a mitt, and the colour is light not orangey and no awful smell. I usually use at Tropez and am very impressed with CB

MikeUniformMike · 12/05/2018 20:21

When you go take self tan with you. Swimming in chlorinated water tends to remove it.

Ellapaella · 12/05/2018 23:07

I used to swear by St Tropez but actually it doesn't last very long and it's very patchy on the face.
Skinny Tan dark tanning oil is brilliant, all the Bondi Sands ones are also great (particularly the gradual tan for a subtle natural look).

Ellapaella · 12/05/2018 23:08

Cocoa Brown went very patchy and streaky in me - I tried the mousse.

rainbowcakes · 13/05/2018 09:15

I second st tropez gradual tan. Ive not used it in years because its messy to apply but i loved the mousse when I was in my early 20's.

Cocoa brown is decent as well - it isnt a primark own brand though, i bought mine from superdrug

HolyMountain · 13/05/2018 11:31

I tried Sienna yesterday for the first time. It's a lovely smelling mousse which you apply with a mitt . I left it on for 90 minutes then showered it off, it's developed a bit more since and I love the colour.

I'd highly recommendSmile

itsBritneyBeach · 13/05/2018 11:39

Pale redhead here - I swear by Bondi Sands Light/Medium. It's such a nice colour without looking OTT and smells amazing in comparison to other tans

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 13/05/2018 11:44

I'm extremely pale and have found tan luxe drops from qvc are amazing. I put a couple of drops on at night and people have asked me if I've been away on holiday.

Summerfalls · 13/05/2018 14:20

Another vote for bondi sands.
I’m not a red head I have dark hair but my skin is very pale. I have only tried the dark lotion however because I like my tan darker, but it never comes out patchy or orange. And lasts ages without going patchy.
I did also use st Moriz mousse for years too, the light/medium is great for first time users.

AwakeinaMosesbasket · 13/05/2018 14:26

I’ve tried loads and Sienna X is the best for me (same for spray tan in their lightest shade)

The tinted mousse is very user friendly, especially with the lovely soft mit. The regular tans need to be left on around 8 hours or overnight but they also do a 1 hr range which are left on 1-3 hours and then guide colour rinsed off (it continues to develop over next few hours)

I use the “dark” colour and it comes out a lovely natural brown, get lots of compliments and I am utterly useless at that kind of thing so must be easy to use!

WindyBee · 13/05/2018 15:49

I buy my CB in Primark as its cheaper than Superdrug
