Flattering/inexpensive/perfect jeans help for a new mama (and seamstress/tailor question!)

Good afternoon folks! Just after some advice from you helpful peeps. I'm a first time mama to a 7-month old and am just starting to get my figure back. However, this body is, of course, a bit different from my pre-pregnancy shape. Also, whilst I used to wear lots of skirts and dresses, my 'new' life involves a lot of sitting, getting up/down, feeding, running around for baby...and my 'old' everyday wardrobe is just not practical for these tasks! I need to find some wonderfully flattering jeans as a staple for my new mummy wardrobe! I'm quite clear about what I suit/look good in. I'm not big (pre-baby was size 6-8), at the moment top half is an 8 and bottom half a 10-12, but the weight's suddenly started to fall off. Two questions here, I guess:

  1. Where can I find some really flattering, inexpensive jeans?
  2. If this isn't possible, does anyone have any idea how much it might cost to get a seamstress to make my pair of dream jeans/trousers?! (I have one pair of trousers that I love and wonder if a seamstress/tailor might be able to make a pattern from them and then make them in denim fabric?!)

Thanks so much for bearing with my post (if you got this far!) and thanks in advance for responses! x

P.S. My alternative is to go full out 'athleisure' most of the time - any thoughts on this?! Thank you x

I have two pairs of ASOS own brand high rise stretch skinny black jeans. They are as comfy as leggings, have enough oomph to hold things in and have washed well after a year's wear on rotation. They have a big own brand range, so you're bound to find something that suits.

I charge in excess of £125 for tailored trousers. Look at yoga skirts and denim leggings for very comfortable no fly jeans. Yoga skirts are amazing, big yoga waistband and a flared soft jersey skirt. My denim leggings are high waisted ones from M&S.

Primark "High Waist Skinny" for me. Cheap as chips and the high waist does a good job of holding in the belly. Praying that high waist will never go out of fashion now! On the Athleisure - I think it's fine to dress like this outwith the gym environment, especially as being a mum to a 7 month old is probably more strenuous than the gym anyway.

I've just ordered a whole bunch of jeans from tkmaxx. Don't have them yet obviously but they had good brands such as Lee, wrangler and replay massively discounted

I got loads of jeans from ASOS, had a massive trying on session and bought the best ones. I've also had success with jeans from M&S. Are you short? Buy from the petite ranges and the fit will be much better.

CountFosco, I'm 5ft 3in. Thanks so much to everyone for your super-helpful suggestions...much appreciated! x

The tesco jeggings are highly recommended on the mumsnet swears by board. Only £14. I bought a pair recently and am very impressed. Good quality. Holds you in. Bit of Stretch. Look smart and wash and keep colour and shape really well
