Need to sort my legs for an event in June.

Must be under a tenner and available from Boots/Superdrug.

Thank you!

Ooh watching with interest

JesusTapdancingChrist · 10/05/2018 07:23

Ooh and as natural looking/non-orange as possible.

Palmers cocoa butter is amazing - and smells great. Under a fiver in Home Bargains.

ShirleyPhallus · 10/05/2018 07:28

Don’t both with gradual tan, go straight for st tropez and never look back!

NellytheElephant18 · 10/05/2018 07:29

Skinny tan - body glow light gradual tan is amazing and doesn’t have that awful fake tan smell. Superdrug sell it as well as available online.

Chembe · 10/05/2018 07:31

St tropez gradual in shower tan is my favourite product ever. Slightly over a tenner though, maybe £12

Ohmylord59789234 · 10/05/2018 07:35

I like the garnier apricot one, usually around £6 but sonetimes less than half price in Superdrug or savers, natural colour and no horrible fake tan smells

ohhellojo · 10/05/2018 07:37

The Bondi Sands range is bloody amazing, I have the Gold Tan Oil and the spray to top it up. I think the oil is bloody amazing, but be careful to buff it in everywhere. It’s currently about £12 from Superdrug, but THE best £12 you could ever spend on a tanning product that works 👌🏻

ScoobyGangMember · 10/05/2018 07:39

St Tropez instant tan. Washes off.

useruserbored · 10/05/2018 07:49

I must have untannable legs....I've tried all these and they never leave me with a natural, non patchy glow!

formerbabe · 10/05/2018 07:51

The Dove gradual tan is brilliant.

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 10/05/2018 07:52

Garnier Summer Body Deep.

DeltaG · 10/05/2018 07:56

I second the Garnier apricot one. I'm super pasty and have tried hundreds of self-tans since I was a teenager. I had previously been using Clarins delicious cream, but I ran out and could only manage to get the Garnier one from the supermarket. It was only meant as a stop-gap but I like it so much that I've bought more.

I hate the St. Tropez in-shower tan, if you get it in your eyes (easy to do when face, body & hair are wet), it stings like buggery. It's also blotchy on me (but I am very pale so this is less of a problem on darker skins).

Also, if you are very fair, I find classic St. Tropez to be too dark and unnatural looking. Incidentally, my DH is from a place not far from St. Tropez and his original 'St Tropez tan' looks nothing like me when I've applied the product (he looks naturally bronzed and I look like I fell into a vat of creosote).

Also watching with interest...I have pasty, dry, sensitive skin which doesn't tan. It goes red, then straight back to white.

Despite vigorous exfoliating and moisturising and then careful application, fake tan always looks patchy and shit on me so I usually just let it stay white. But this year even my DH said I looked like a plucked chicken, so I want to give it another go...

Redcrayons · 10/05/2018 08:04

I used the garner one last year. I've yet to find one that doesn't have 'the smell'.

TossDaily · 10/05/2018 08:30

The tanning water Boots are selling is bloody good, and fake tan usually looks shite on me.

You can't mess it up, and if you do, it's easy to patch it up.

It's called Isle of Paradise and comes in three colours. I get the light one and it's plenty dark enough.

youvegottobekidding · 10/05/2018 09:12

I have really pale, freckly skin & the only one that seems to work for me is the original Dove one, my local chemist sells it for £1.99, Check your local chemist first, Boots also do it but it's more expensive.

Fab, thanks so much everyone. Some of these sound ideal, will check them all out!

Definitely just want to take the edge off my whiteness as opposed to being super tanned so just want something really subtle that takes minimum effort and won't ruin my bedsheets!

Dove visible glow is great if you need moisture and a tan but my favourite is the St Tropez shower gradual tan

RadioDorothy · 10/05/2018 12:20

Is there actually a foolproof way of applying the stuff? I'm a proper geek at following instructions but it always looks rubbish on me now I'm over 45 - in my 20s it wasn't too bad, but formulas have come a long way since then. I'm worried my skin is just too old and dry.

What if I just want some light colour on my ugly blotchy corned beef upper arms and lower legs? How can you blend it where it meets untreated skin without an obvious streak/line?

ChinUpChestOut · 10/05/2018 16:57

I've just posted on the other fake tan thread about Louis Widmer self tanner. I'm naturally blonde and pale (really pale) and I find it gives me a really nice gentle tan after about 3-5 days. Then a top up every other day or so. It's Swiss, and not a big name brand and available in the UK online for around £15 (might be in stores as well, I don't know as I don't live in the UK).

I apply after the shower, and I find it incredibly easy to apply and I've yet to achieve streaks etc. Have to be sure wash your hands afterwards, like all the others, but it's a good one for the paler creatures as the tan seems to be geared towards our natural skin colour.
