Surprising hair/ beauty finds

I've got long naturally curly hair, that goes very dry and frizzy, especially after being washed, even when it dries naturally.
I had it permanently straightened when I was younger which was great, but of course it grew out. I then had it bleached blonde for a few years so couldn't have it redone. I've since let the blonde grow out naturally and am back to my natural brunette. I'm planning to get it straightened permanently again and trimmed as it hasn't been cut since August 2012. (not sure on the correct name of the straightening treatments they do now), but it'll have to wait until I can afford it.
I use my GHD's to straighten it. But the biggest thing was the shampoo and conditioner. I've spent years trying all different shampoos and conditioners that claim to help make your hair straight and smooth and less dry and frizzy. Expensive salon brands, cheaper brands. None of which seem to work.
The other day I'd run out of shampoo (don't judge me please, I thought I had another bottle behind but it was another conditioner), so I used my little boy's baby shampoo to wash my hair. I could not believe the difference. It made my hair so soft and smooth, and the ends weren't as dry, even after straightening it. It's the only thing that's made a significant difference to the condition of my hair. I was so shocked. So my husband suggested I use baby shampoo all the time.
Call me sad, but yes I'm using baby shampoo at 25 years of age.
It surprised me so much and I just wondered if anyone else had any surprising stories to share surrounding hair/ beauty products?

The one hair product I cannot do without is Inecto coconut oil serum. I buy Inecto because a) it's totally cruelty-free and b) it's cheap as chips at our local Home Bargains! I've used serums before, after washing and before drying, but they always left my hair feeling greasy and looking a bit oily. This just results in soft, shiny, frizz-free hair. Love it!

There were lots of raves about the one quid Tesco hair serum a while back. In a red bottle I seem to recall. Not tried it myself. Keep forgetting to buy it.

It’s probably the lack of silicone/dimethicone OP

I have superfine hair that used to get flat and greasy easily. Totally transformed with a silicone-free shampoo Smile

Coconut oil. Organic from Holland and Barratt. Use it all over the night before I wash it.
