Help me with my grey hair

I'm mid 30s and have always had a fair bit of grey. Recently it has intensified and the dye I use just doesn't seem to hold. It seems that the pantene shampoo i'm using is washing the dye out! Going natural isn't an option so i'm hoping for ideas as to what dye and/or shampoo you'd recommend for coloured grey hair. Thanks

I had dyed grey hair for 20 years. I used nice n easy dye and no particular shampoo. I like the organix ones a lot though. I find lighter colors seem to take less well on hair so maybe need to go darker.

I dye mine red/purple and I'm naturally light. Like a blondy grey. A good tip I got off my hairdresser is if your going for a vibrant colour like I do buy it and also buy a cheap dark brown and mix the two. This creates a base tone so the vibrant colour foesnt stick to the lighter bits dreadfully but no the rest of your hair. If that makes sense. If i disnt do it my roots would be seriously bright and the rest not so much as the rest is much darker

Buy a professional dye like Majirel and then you can just use a tiny amount to touch the roots up as needed. It works better than any box dye I have found.

I second the majirel - I use that and a kit from boots with the bowl and the measuring thing and a brush. I then have to mix the developer and I do mine every 10 days like that.

It has to be left on for aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages - loads more than the box ones - 40 mins but it takes really well.

My sister gradually went lighter with her hair colour and just gets a head of foils or various blonde/light/caramel colours done 2-3 times a year - it looks good and the grey mixed in with all the highlights isn't noticeable.

Thank you all, loads of great ideas. I've been using L'Oréal and after three weeks it really needs done again! I'm worried that going to the hairdressers will be too expensive with the amount of grey and frequency i'm dying it now. Thank you!

I used to use permanent dyes and they faded/went ginger quickly, plus never looked glossy or healthy. I just tried a semi-perm without amonia, and strangely, it covered better and is glossy. This nice'n easy one. Reviews on superdrug were good, but recommended this shade, no lighter to fully cover grey.
Hijacking thread, does anyone know how to protect previosly dyed hair when dying roots? I'd like to avoid saturated darker hair if poss. Would soaking the rest of the hair in conditioner work?

Is it just the roots which are showing? Nice and easy root touch up works for me. If I want an overall colour I use L’Oréal. Works for me and quite grey. Wonder why it’s not working for you? How long do you leave it on for?

It seems to be a recent problem. Could be a different shampoo or maybe the sun (although I don't live anywhere that experienced a warm weekend). I'm fair so don't really want to go too dark. I've tried the spray on root touch up and it's awful, might as well paint my scalp!

I have highlighted hair & have used label M shampoo & conditioner for coloured hair from the Toni & guy salons.
They helped maintain my colour.

Now I've just started using different products as I'm with a new salon, will see what they are like
