Need advice on summer shopping

Please recommend brands for stylish casual outfits (i am 34, size 6-8). Finally can afford to do a proper summer shopping but seems like I have come out of the habit. Today visited Debenhams, DP and H&M with no success. Every piece of advice would be appreciated. If you are around my age, where do you shop?

Watching with interest. I’m hopeless at summer dressing.

I'm the same age and also wonder where I SHOULD be shopping.

New Look - cheap and cheerful but quality not all that, for example have some of their jumpers who have gone baggy at the bottom edge after washing

H & M - probably cheaper than New Look but their clothing tends to repeat the same styles and patterns. They seem to do quite a lot of office wear but not that much casual.

Topshop/River Island - I'm probably too old for these now but do like their stuff

Warehouse - probably more grown up than T/RI, price much of a muchness

Oasis has some ok stuff.

Hopefully wiser people will be along...

Not that I'm anything great in fashion stakes but ..... try Tu at Sainsbury's. Not bad pricing, for a summer wardrobe, particularly if you're not sure of styles / fashions you like or suit you.

I'm a size 6-8 and nothing at Tu fits unfortunately. I like Uniqlo, Topshop, GAP, and H&M for basics, also ASOS is brilliant. Love All Saints and some Hush, but a bit over my budget.

Depends what your budget is. I'm 32, and I go to:
Zara as my go to for nice, fashionable things, with a few bits from bershka too. Jackets & coats seem to come from here.

Oasis/ warehouse for one or two 'nice' pretty things- not too much from here, as I find it expensive and t-shirts especially have holes appear after washing. Sometimes a dress though.

H&M for high fashion items, where I'm not bothered about them lasting more than a couple of seasons.

Asda & Tu for basics and jeans

I buy the odd work bit from M&S, New look or Topshop may occasionally have something that interests me. Find the odd unusual item in TK Maxx.

I'm a size 4-6, so around the same size as you. Supermarket clothes never fit me, always too big. I like Topshop, HandM, Allsaints, and Whistles mostly. I also find that some department stores don't stock sizes small enough for me, so do better in the actual shops rather than concessions.

rightknockered · 07/05/2018 12:25

Uniqlo is also good for decent cotton t-shirts that don't look as though I'm wearing my big sister's clothes

rightknockered · 07/05/2018 12:26

Hush never fits right, they vanity size everything

Winterflower84 · 07/05/2018 20:50

Sorry, forgot to mention my budget. For a couple of tops and a dress (and ideally a skirt as well) can spend up to £100. Don't send me to Primark please :)

YY Uniqlo, my DD is a size 6/8 and the size XS/S fits her well (she's 5'7")
