Comfortable summer heels

I've just been to the consultant and it seems my hip damage has not increased in 10 years so it's fair to say that I don't have osteoarthritis. Since original diagnosis I have been living in flats so now want wearable heels. I have some reiker wedges but the upper rubs where my toenail meets my toe. I also own a pair of hot pink wedges but they're a take in a bag and put on at the last minute pair.

I have wide feet and a high instep so most high street shoes don't fit. I also have a lowish budget , under £40. I want ones that I can walk into town , around a mile each way.

I can only afford new look most of the time & have actually had some good shoes / boots from there.

Got a pair of pretty & comfortable fairly low wedges from River Island for £38.

I have issues with hip and knees and I swear by Rieker, Strive and Romika ...

I have very comfortable low wedge sandals by Josef Seibel (tan leather) and Stonefly (nude/grey suede). They were over your budget though, but I do think good shoes are worth the investment. I think the Stonefly ones were about £75-ish and the JS ones about £60 in the sale. The trick is to buy very solidly made ones and not to go too high.

Any chance you could wear in your Rieker ones a bit more, by wearing them around the house? Leather softens with wear, and that's a well-made brand so might be worth persevering.

Marks and Spencer's! Not the obvious first choice perhaps but they have some lovely shoes, I like their wedge espadrilles
