Best site or other place (not ebay) to sell posh clothes/bags?

I have, from pre-DC days, some nice bits and bobs that were barely used (in the case of a couple of particular pairs of shoes, not worn at all) which I am now keen to sell so that I have a bit of spare cash for buying nice things I will actually wear!

I'm not talking Chanel bags or Hermes sunglasses, though! As an example, some Philosophy di Alberta Ferreti shoes worn once; an unworn Shanghai Tang pure silk shirt; an APC sweater worn once. That kind of thing.

Are there places that will sell those kinds of things, or is the luxury/designer-type resale market only really buoyant for the Chanel/Hermes/LV stuff?

If so, where? And are commission fees just silly? I'm not looking to make hundreds and hundreds, but just selling a few of these bits and bobs (I have a few more) to make, I don't know, a couple of hundred quid in total would be ideal. I'm cash-strapped for clothes these days and would just love the freedom of being able to afford/justify a spree at Uniqlo or Zara, for clothes I will actually wear!

Vestiare, they take 30% and it does take ages as you have to send to them for authentication first.

How about pre loved type shops in your area (or your nearest big affluent area)? The one nearest me takes 50% as a rule but is open to negotiation on higher end stuff. You usually book an appointment to take a bag of stuff in one go for them to go through and agree what to sell, then leave it them until you collect your earnings and unsold clothes a few weeks later.

Why not eBay though? At 10% commission, it’s the cheapest way albeit with a little more time and effort spent listing and posting stuff.

Good question re why not ebay!! Not sure, really, it's simply that I've never used it before myself and anecdotally it sounds a bit of a faff... that said I have no evidence to suggest it'd be impossible so maybe I should just take that route.

Hadn't thought about trying an actual pre-loved shop, will look into anything in my area too.

Thanks MrsMaria

Also interested. EBay is pure rip off scammer hell nowadays. I won't use it any more.

Shpock or Depop - any good or just for 21 year olds looking for trendy crap?

OdileDeCaray · 04/05/2018 20:37

I sell via Vesitaire Collective, Rebelle and Edit Second Hand.

OdileDeCaray · 04/05/2018 20:38

editsecondhand.com

Depop or vestaire collective.

I use Twicely but it’s more Boden and Mint Velvet than actual designer
Worth checking it out though
