I don't usually wear dresses but I have 2 weddings to go to in the next couple of months so I wanted to get one to wear.

I found this and I really like it. It kinda hides my massive hips and shows my waist so I've bought it. Does it look ok?

Now I need to find things to go with it and I have no idea what I'm doing. I usually wear jeans and a tshirt. This is all way beyond me.

I need shoes and possibly some kind of jacket or I dunno, a cardigan?
I can't really walk in heals mostly because I've never really put much effort into learning but I am a short ass at just 5"2

Also, I'm going to have two young kids with me so will need a bag to carry nappies etc and I don't think the superhero changing bag we use day to day is going to cut it Grin

Please help. You're my only hope. Confused

For the bag get a stylish tote and put anything dirt in a carrier bag, TK maxx is a did place to start.

Beautiful dress, and very flattering on you!! It's a summery feel dress so I would put with a pair of cork sandal wedges. Also ideal if you're unsure about heels as wedges are a million times comfier and easier to walk in! I would avoid a cardigan and go for a blazer in one of the colours on your dress, a navy if you're feeling more subtle or opt for a coral if you're feeling bright and summery would work perfectly!

Kocerhan3 · 03/05/2018 21:43

PS don't take a carrier bag my lord. Get a large tote bag in leather or something big enough to put nappies etc in but stylish enough to match

NapQueen · 03/05/2018 21:44

Tesco have some beautiful wedges espadrilles, they have a pair in gold which would look perfect with that dress.

delilahbucket · 03/05/2018 21:58

I hate wedges with a passion! I would go for flats, particularly if you have children to run around after. They need to be plain and with a matching bag. Navy would be a good colour to pick out as there will be a wide variety to choose from for a bag and shoes. A blazer would be good to go over your arms and keep your accessories simple as the dress is busy.

sourpatchkid · 03/05/2018 22:28

I'd do flats too. If you're not used to heels or wedges they'll drive you insane especially with childen. Primark will have loads of options, I'd have a look there

I think goose meant to put anything dirty in a carrier bag, in a tote bag.

peachypetite · 03/05/2018 22:42

I think a v neck dress would be much more flattering OP.

sproutsandparsnips · 03/05/2018 23:07

Any white shoes would be ok I think?

TroubledLichen · 03/05/2018 23:52

Great dress, really flattering!

I second advice to get a nice tote bag to stash all the nappies and I’d also go for flat shoes if you’re going to be running after kids. Maybe ballet pumps in a colour that picks out one of the colours on your dress like bright pink or navy? You could get away with a cardigan over the top but I think a blazer would look smarter.

ImgoingtoSHABOOMS · 04/05/2018 06:22

Little black bolero for shoulders and some black heels or flats would look fab.

Thank you so much! I honestly had no clue what to do.

I'll have a look online using your ideas once I've dropped the eldest at nursery.

Btw can anyone tell me what this style of dress is called? I really like it so might look online for some others similar but have no idea what to search for.

You could try searching for prom dress shape or fit and flare? Some tea dresses are similar shape too.
