Where / how to sell wedding dress?

I bought a wedding dress last year hoping I'd fit into it after having the baby but despite losing the baby weight my rib cage hasn't shrunk enough to do it up.

I've had it listed since January on multiple sites and have contacted local bridal shops all with no luck.
I've advertised it at £600 and at £275 and no interest, not even one enquiry.

I need to sell it though before I can afford to buy a new dress that fits.

It's brand new and still has the tags on.

Can anyone suggest any easy way to do it?

I've run out of all options I've thought of now and getting a little desperate and would happily just get a few hundred pounds now just to allow me a dress from the high street

Could you not take it to a dress shop that buys pre owned wedding dresses?

Thanks, I've tried the few local dress shops I know of but none of them buy. I tried a samples and second hand dress shop and they wouldnt buy either, but wanted me to pay them to sell it (I've already spent a fortune in advertising)

Il keep looking for dress shops who might be buying.

It's not even been worn and still has the tags on

eBay ? Gumtree ?

Have you tried Still White?
Any local dress agencies? The one near me takes half but might be able to get more for it and you certainly don't pay them if it doesn't sell.

Have you looked into wedding if you can get the dress let out.DD had to have here let out because of her enormous boobs. They converted it from a zip to a corset back which made it to you a size or two. In the end she had it on it's tightest .

Wedding? Whether

Try putting it on eBay at offers over £199. Describe it exactly in the title eg "New with tags Phase Eight Hope Embellished Wedding Dress size 10". Take good photos in daylight with an uncluttered background and include a photo/photos from the designer/shop's website. Run the ad for 10 days timing it to end on a Sunday evening about 9pm.

ie. photos with the daylight ON THE DRESS.

Can the dress be altered at all?

This may sound totally backwards but remember discussing it when I worked in a wedding dress shop. Second hand dresses often sell quicker/better if sold as "much loved, felt great in it" than "never worn, pristine". Brides to be can be subconsciously superstitious, and if you focus on how it made you feel when you put it on (so they will envisage feeling great too) it's better than saying it never got used (which makes them think it's somehow cursed yes I know it's ridiculous).

My sister and I have both our sold wedding dresses. One sold through You and Your Wedding magazine and the other through Preloved. Both dresses had been worn and professionally dry cleaned and sold for just under half of the purchase price.
My sister sold her veil, headdress and shoes on eBay

I think Wonky makes a good point about unworn dresses. I was lucky in that my dress almost sold itself - it was a popular and flattering style from a mid price designer and in the few days it was advertised I had several enquiries from those who had already tried the dress on and were looking to buy second hand.
My sisters dress was a bit more of a one off and took about 3 months to sell. She provided lots of photographs and was happy to have people come and try it on.

Almost two years and I'm still trying to sell mine! It's got until August then I'm moving house and it's not coming with me.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 05/05/2018 13:06

Mine cost £1000 and I gave it to RNLI to sell.

Felt very satisfying!!

springmachine · 05/05/2018 14:17

@Aprilmightbemynewname

I would love to donate it but I can't afford to buy a replacement dress to wear unless I sell it.
I haven't actually got married yet.

Once I'm married it can go to charity.
