"Treatments" at hairdressers

Recently moved house, and overdosing on DIY, painting and dust everywhere....

I look a mess!

I've got a very overdue haircut on Friday morning, but my hair just looks so frizzy, that even cutting it into style probably won't be enough.

Every time I get my hair cut, they always ask (at the Conditioner stage) if I want "any treatments". I have always said "no", primarily worried about the sky high cost. But should I try something this time? And if so what?

What are "treatments" anyway?

And what cost is it likely to be?

Haircut will already be costing £64 less 25% discount (so £48 before tip).

If any help, I'm a slightly exhausted looking 47 year old Single Mum.

I'd love to look a bit better than I currently do, so willing to pay if it is worth it.

Olaplex treatment if they do it is well worth it, at my salon it’s an extra £20. They do stage 1&2 at the salon the you can buy olaplex 3 to continue at home once a week.

Second olaplex! I have it done every other time so every 12 weeks or so and I have to say my hair feels amazing for days after.

Olaplex is amazing. The conditioning masks etc in any salon I've ever been to don't do anything I couldn't replicate at home but olaplex is in another league.

One of the more expensive options but it lasted a couple of months for my hair. I have very thick hair prone to dry frizzing ends. The olaplex stuff made my hair silky soft, smooth and looking like new.

I had it mixed in with a colour. I think that's mainly how it's used but you can have it as a stand alone thing. I'm going to do that next time.

Spent years having “treatments” at the backwash which were a complete waste of money.

I’m older than you with coloured, dry & frizzy hair which was getting shorter with every attempt to beat the frizz. Found Olaplex through Google and it does wonders. It comes in 3 stages, 1 and 2 are done in the salon. 3 is used at home.

At first my new hairdresser applied the 1, washed it off, did the colour, washed that off, applied the 2, washed that off. Now I have the 1 and colour mixed and applied together, which takes less time. However, your post has made me rethink, and I’m going to ask for it to be done separately next time as that seems to be even more effective.

Olaplex also makes hair feel thicker and look shiny.

The 3 is £32 from the salon, but can be bought more cheaply from reputable beauty suppliers online when you need to restock. I use it weekly at home, and if I don’t I soon notice my hair is thinner. Leave it on for a few hours if possible, or at least an hour.

The 1 and 2 is about £20 in the salon, an absolute bargain after the joke £12 “treatments”.

I use Olaplex 3 at home but haven't been getting 1 & 2 at the salon and it still really helps.

Is it bad to use it more than once a week do you think?
