Comfortable shoes for a wedding guest

Hi, i've been invited to a wedding and the only shoes i own are flat, comfortable, and not at all suitable to wear to a wedding. I have yet to get a dress (am not looking forward to that either), but are there any styles of shoe that are comfortable for someone used to wearing flat shoes, but still suitable to wear to a wedding. I'm thinking heels would look better with whatever outfit i end up buying. Thank you.

Depends how traditional you / the bride is.
If you must wear heels, try ballroom dance shoes
If you are very young or old, You can get sand shoes ( like converse?) in all sorts of colours which are pretty and sensible.
Daughter did this, hubby did a double take then decided it was a fantastic idea

M&S insolia are pretty comfortable, also next so some really cushioned ones, LKBennett pricey but really comfortable.

I wear pumps to weddings. You can get lots of pretty ones with diamantes or pearls or whatever matches your dress. I think heals are evil and only subject myself to them on very rare occasions.

When is the wedding? Season makes a difference!

Block heels are in at the moment. I've seen some today on Very website, Simply Be and also Next.

I recently bought these to wear at a wedding and they were great. I didn't want to spend a lot as I live in flat boots or Converse so knew they would hardly be worn. They were really comfortable though. I've always struggled with shoes for weddings as I'm terrible at walking in heels and find them so uncomfortable.
They'll get another wear at a wedding in the Summer and again at one in the Autumn.

These are a bit pricey (they're handmade) so DEEP BREATH but I bought them for a 50th birthday party a few months ago. They look fabulous! And they barely have a heel so super-comfy. They're almost sold out but they're getting more stock in the next week or so (I buy nearly all my shoes from here and one of the staff told me about the delivery when I was in their shop last Sat):

I haven’t got any yet, but Sole Bliss shoes seem to have a good reputation.

moofolk · 02/05/2018 21:40

Little flat ankle boots?

moofolk · 02/05/2018 21:42

Don't wear heels if you hate them. It's not worth it, you'll be uncomfortable and self conscious and if you can't walk in them you'll look shit too.

I have just figured this out myself after years of thinking I'll get round to learning to walk in them one day and feel liberated.

Thank you everyone.
@madison i like the look (and price) of the amazon ones in nude and if you think they're comfortable i may order them and see, (free delivery, free returns - what have i got to loose?).
@hundred those shoes are fabulous! No way could i ever spend that on a pair of shoes, but i bet you looked amazing in them.
@moo i'm going to look for flat shoes, (for all the reasons you mention), i suppose i was hoping that there may be a heeled shoe that felt like a flat one.
