I've been using Aussie for ages - the Mega one- and found it ok though the conditioner didn't seem to detangle my hair much.

Someone gave me a sample of Kiehls amino conditioner and my hair is totally different- more body, bounce and shiny and got a comb through it easily after washing.

Question is would you pay £20 for shampoo and conditioner and if so, which?

I've used Aveda before and liked it more than Aussie, but didn't think it was 'special'.

Has anyone any views on Aveda v Kiehls?

My hair doesn't get on well with Aussie conditioners. It took me a while to work that out and I just kept slathering on more and waiting for longer with a shower cap on for it to work its magic. I now use a much cheaper Garnier (natural blends) which works so much better and makes me regret that I was so sniffy about these types of brands before.

The best conditioner I've ever used was the Moroccan oil mask one in the turquoise grapefruit-half-shaped pot.

I've tried samples of Aveda hair products and have loved their smell and the feel of them as I use them, but the results were so-so. Fine but nothing special.

I have long, slightly dry, straight-ish, highlighted hair.

Have never used aveda, but a big fan of kiehls olive fruit shampoo and conditioner, I buy the big bottles and they last a long time, is it worth it? Absolutely, I tried using cheapish brands like Aussie and it did nothing special to my hair and I hated the smell.

I've tried Kerastase from the Salon and it's amazing.

But my DDs regularly "share" my shampoo and conditioner, so I don't buy it often Grin.

Aussie stuff stinks. Also it’s not very good at detangling.

I use this. The pink one. I find it works great on my hair. Can even get a wide tooth combs through it after just shampooing.

On offer at 5.99 each yesterday when I stocked up

Vanillamanilla1 · 01/05/2018 15:22

I wouldn't go with kerastase it made.my hair very dry almost straw like it was horrible

Another fan of cheapo Natural Blends here. The one i use is silicone free. I also use a more expensive deep condition every so often.

Percy and Reed, it's gorgeous and smells amazing too.

I like Philip Kingsley ‘body building’, and the TIGI Bed Head range (love all the ones I’ve tried, which is almost all of them!). Redken All Soft is really nice too - makes such a difference to my fine/damaged hair

Chicinwellies · 01/05/2018 22:42

The redken avocado one is amazing

Bubba1234 · 01/05/2018 22:42

Aveda

Enidblyton1 · 01/05/2018 22:47

I think it's a good idea to change shampoos every now and again, rather than using the same one for years. That might be why your hair suddenly felt wonderful when you switched.
I alternate between a couple of different Aveda shampoos, but use a cheaper shampoo about once a fortnight. My hair never feels as nice after the cheaper shampoo (though could this be pschosymatic?), but then feels better than normal when I use the Aveda again.

Timefortea99 · 01/05/2018 22:49

Phillip B or Balmain.

Never keen on Keratese.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/05/2018 22:54

I use either Tigi Elasticate or the Tigi Bedhead Urban Antidotes int he green bottles. Definitely worth it for me to pay more for my shampoo and conditioner. I have fine but lots of it, waist length wavy hair that's home coloured and I've tried and tried cheaper products and they don't leave my hair in anywhere near as nice condition so for me, it's worth the expense. The length of mine alone i think would make it worth while for me to spend the extra, never mind the actual texture of my hair

Ginpasta · 02/05/2018 03:25

Tigi bedhead urban antidotes (green one) - been using for a while now & love it

peonylover22 · 02/05/2018 07:21

Oooh so I have my hair cut and coloured at Aveda, but use Kiehls shampoo and conditioner, which is better for my hair. I have very fine hair which can be limp.
I use this shampoo and this conditioner. I also use this Aveda volumising spray.

Lifeonrepeat · 02/05/2018 07:50

I have started using Rub Rub Rub which is a body salt scrub. You can use it on your hair too. I exfoliate hair and scalp, rinse it, then shampoo and condition (I used red Bed Head by Tigi) as normal. My hair is now so soft and glossy and my hairdresser has even commented what better condition it is in. Highly recommended.
