Budget lipstick

Soyalatteforme · 01/05/2018 14:44

I'm looking to extend my lipstick collection and would like to find a long-lasting brand which isn't too drying. Preferably cruelty free. Does anyone have any brand suggestions so I can narrow down the search? Looking to spend less than £20.

Thank You.

£20 on a few lipsticks or one?

MAC all the way if that's your per lipstick budget. Rimmel Kate Moss collection all good for cheapo.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 01/05/2018 14:52

NYX have a great range of types and colours, but I don’t know about their testing procedures.

Soyalatteforme · 01/05/2018 14:59

For the right one, will pay £20 for an individual lipstick.

Believe MAC and Rimmel are not cruelty free unfortunately. Where can I buy NYX?

I like Rimmel. I don't know their ethics. I should.

Superdrug own brand also come highly recommended but I've never used them myself as I live abroad. Also don't know their ethics.

Mac use palm oil in at least some of their products.

The best lipsticks I've found for colour staying power are:-

No 7 Stay Perfect
Max Factor lipfinity
Maybelline Superstay

They can be a bit drying but all 3 come with either gloss or balm to put on top of the colour.

Antipodes

Mercurial123 · 01/05/2018 15:39

M&S Autograph their cosmetics are really good quality and made in Italy they are part of the Leaping Bunny Programme. Boots No 7 is also good.

RatherBeRiding · 01/05/2018 17:26

ELF are really budget and totally cruelty free. Ditto MUA. (Both from Superdrug).

Spartacunt · 01/05/2018 17:31

H&M do really lovely ones - about £6

ThenCameTheFools · 01/05/2018 17:51

MUA n 11 is a holy grail of my-lips-but-better.

Compared to your Diors and Chanels (or Cliniques and ELs) it does feel cheaper and more drying. But for about a fiver....The Bourjois ones in the black packaging are good too for the price.

Mercurial123 · 01/05/2018 18:01

I thought Bourjois were not cruelty free?

LockedOutOfMN · 01/05/2018 18:45

MUA is the brand from Superdrug I couldn't remember the name of. Delighted to hear they're cruelty free. Will definitely be checking them out when I'm next shopping in the U.K.

BusterGonad · 01/05/2018 19:13

The Rosie for Autograph ones are good and they have the leaping bunny. I love the lip glossys (chubby sticks) and the lipsticks.

Llamallann · 01/05/2018 19:17

Revolution in Superdrug are brill, and cruelty free. I picked up one of their lip kits for £6 which is a definite rival to Kylies. Their lipsticks are lovely and less than £5.

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 01/05/2018 19:18

At the risk of being a twat...£20 for one lipstick is budget? Holy smokes. What do others pay?

On a more sensible note - I don’t find body shop reds drying and have good staying power. Needs a liner though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 01/05/2018 19:21

Urban Decay
KatVonD

DD is the lipstick wearer , she says KVD wears better and has a better formula but UD has better colours.

I love the UD cases, brushed goldy/silver with a nice click when you close it.

About £15 and Cruelty Free.

Soyalatteforme · 01/05/2018 19:56

Looks like I need to head to Superdrug and M&S! I forgot about ELF, thanks for the reminder. I think UD I can get at John Lewis and I have vouchers for there, so that's splendid. I do love a good closing 'click'!

Appreciate everyone's input. Lotsofplanets - £20 isn't really budget is it, you're right. I hadn't factored that as high end - was just trying to narrow things down in case (as I've seen happen), I was provided with suggestions which were way out of the ball-park.

I really like the Urban Decay creams but the “matte” ones go flaky on me after a while. My favourite is an orangey red called bang.

Barry M are cruelty free and vegan and surprisingly good, although it can depend on the colour - I have a dark purply one (I think it’s 175 in their colours) and it’s wonderful, lasts really well, but then a pink shiny one (173?) which needs reapplying every hour.

Lentilbaby · 01/05/2018 20:08

Hourglass?

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 01/05/2018 20:22

Cheers soya! Hope you find something really lovely - great that there are such a broad range of suggestions.

mildshock · 01/05/2018 20:26

Anastasia Beverly Hills are great.

I love Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks, though all the lipsticks are cruelty free, I don't think the entire range of products are.

Soyalatteforme · 01/05/2018 20:46

Thanks,Lotsofplanets. I'm spoiled for choice. I'm hearing that a lipstick shopping day is essential! I wish!

mildshock where can I buy Anastasia Beverly Hills? Thank you.

Kiko are cruelty free I believe and huge range of formulations and colours

Soyalatteforme · 02/05/2018 07:41

Thank you, think they're at Superdrug too, so that will be my first stop I think.
