Highlights and going grey

So I grew out the dye and my hair is its natural shade of light mousy brown with about 30% grey. It is salt and pepper grey with a white streak on one side. It's ok. I like how multi tonal my hair looks.

The problem is I am warm toned and feel pretty washed out. I have been toying with re colouring off and on but can't be doing with the upkeep.

Dh got some old photos out earlier and I forgot how blonde I went at one point. It really suited me - was a kind of dark honey blonde.

My hairdresser had been trying to persuade me into some highlights to bring in some warmth but I'm not sure. I can't afford to get them done every 8 weeks, don't want roots etc.

Any solutions here?

Would you consider fake tan on your face?
Might warm things up a bit?

A semi permanent colour that gradually washes away over 6 weeks? So no harsh root regrowth.

I'm pretty pale so don't think fake tan would look right. I've tried the brighter lipstick thing but don't seem to get that right.

Tried semi perm too and that doesn't really show up enough. Sad

I had a really miserable shopping trip on the weekend and feel so dowdy.

Your hair sounds similar to mine. I have highlights once a year, just at the top and front of my hair, where most of my grey is, so the regrowth isn't so noticeable. My last highlights were done nearly a year ago. Sorry, hair needs a wash!

Want2be that's the kind of thing I'm thinking about. I want a few highlights and low lights just to add something.

I was looking at it last night and the tones really are quite pretty. It just needs a bit more warmth.

I'm similar. I get my highlights done every 16 weeks. They are done to blend, rather than change and she mixes up how they start at the hairline so the regrowth is minimised.
I never therefore get the stripe and this for me is the ideal compromise.
