Can anyone advise on petticoats?

Hi all!

I have a few 50's style dresses to hide my post-baby stomach and would like to get a small-ish net petticoat to frouff them up a bit! I'm just wondering if there's a big difference between the Lindy Bop ones at £25 and the eBay ones at around £5. I can't believe that the eBay ones can even be posted for that price, let alone made! Has anyone tried either option? I'm also very uncomfortable about the ethics of clothing that cheap. Although I have no idea if more expensive = fairer price for the workers or just more profit for the company.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Where are you? If in a city with a sizeable Indo-Pakistani population get one stitched for you. My local tailor will do it for free as it takes him 5 mins & net fabric usually costs me no more than 3/4 quid a meter.

You can see the quality difference in the cheap ones.
My BF has an expensive one and it's soft and swings nicely in a twirl. I have a cheap one as it was of fancy dress the netting is stiffer, with fewer layers and doesn't really move.
Hers also looks better peeking under the hem of a dress than mine does

Cheap netting is flammable and not suitable for clothing so be careful what you get from eBay.

I got a cheap one from amazon and it does the job but it’s really warm and I get kind of clammy in it!

The cheap ones are fine and do the job, make sure you get one that is lined though as some aren't and they're really itchy! They are a lot less puffy than the more expensive ones and obviously the material is not as high quality, but they're worth a try. I prefer them for some occasions because they give a bit of shape to the dress but get in the way less! I do love the big floofy ones though :)
