early forties, fine hair, roundish face, size 10, not pretty like the model? Fed up of a bob and not sure what else to have but short hair is not an option...
Thanks!

That is a bob isn't it, just with a side swept fringe!? Perfectly suitable though & lovely shape, go for it!

Smeddum · 22/04/2018 15:37

No idea what it’s called but it sounds good for you! Is it a “lob” (long bob)?

ShmooBooMoo · 22/04/2018 15:40

Ha ha...it's still a bob...? I'm rubbish at this! Anyone know if this style is simple enough for any hairdresser or would it require a really good one to look like the pic posted? Thanks.

I'd call that a bob with long layers cut in and blonde highlights.
I think part of her hair has been pulled over and brushed forward for the photo. I don't think that a fringe has been cut in.

A long side swept fringe is a flattering look though especially for round faces. If you have fine straight hair it would look great.

A lot could go wrong with this cut in the hands of an inexperienced hairdresser. Bobs with fringes can end up a bit Lego head.

ShmooBooMoo · 22/04/2018 15:55

Thanks for the great advice - I definitely don't want a lego head! Smile
I thought I should stay away from layers with fine hair.. Well, I've heard conflicting things about layers and fine hair tbh. I thought the model's hair looks 'fine' and she does seem to have body to her hair whilst having layers. I suppose it's the type and the way they're cut in....her's still looks blunt at the ends which, I've read, is what fine hair needs. Thanks.

Good luck. Maybe get some recommendations for decent hairdressers beforehand.
I asked for a layered bob a few years ago and used my mum's mobile hairdresser. I ended up with a bob and a weird fringe which went all round my head! Confused

I've got fine hair and a similar hair style to your pic. I do have to be careful with the side swept fringe though, the fineness of my hair can make it flop limply, especially on Day 2 after a wash and blowdry. I have to make sure I give it a good squirt of styling spray before I dry it, and on particularly floppy days I sometimes wet it with a mist of water and blow dry it again (just the fringe section).
