Weighting the hems of clothes

Hello all - hope you're enjoying the good weather :)

I have a number of clothes that are becoming rather fly-away either by design or because I'm losing weight and I don't want to purchase an new wardrobe until I really have to.

I know people use curtain weights/curtain tape etc but I'm concerned about how things machine wash with this in. Does anyone have any experience please or any examples of anything else they use?

Thank you! :)

Great idea, thank you! It was the filter that was worrying me as well as how it would affect the items when washing them a few times with it in place (or if it should be made to be removable each time? I'm not sew-er... sewist? I failed textiles big time!

The last straw was going out for a milk a couple of days ago and coming back with my hands full but a lucky gust of wind getting under my floaty top and making me flash everything to the (thankfully empty!) street! Grin

Chanel sew chains into their hems...

You can get specialist weights and trim, something along these lines:

To get the Chanel touch that @Usernametaken123 mentioned you could go for this (it would probably be easier to sew in if you aren't making the item from scratch.

Thank you, funnily enough I was reading about the Chanel method earlier after googling it.

I'll buy some of the lead weights on ebay or Amazon, the chain is a bit pricey unfortunately given the amount I'd need for tops/dresses etc - but thank you for the link :)
