What's your recommendation please? Smile

I use a Phillips Sonicare. Makes a real difference to my gum health and the amount of scale on my teeth. I find it more tolerable than an ordinary electric because it's far less buzzzy (unless the brush head, rather than the bristles, touches my teeth).

Saltcrust · 17/04/2018 07:30

Agree with JellySlice we have an Oral B and a Phillips in our household and imho the Phillips is far better, less jerky, cleans better, the shape of the brush is better, less loud etc etc.

CarcerDun · 17/04/2018 07:32

My dentist recommended the Phillips Sonicare, it's been great as far as I am concerned. Has really made a difference to my teeth.

McDougal · 17/04/2018 08:19

Another Phillips sonicare recommendation here. DH just got an oral b and the sound of it grates on me after the relative quiet of a sonicare.

Flicketyflack · 17/04/2018 08:25

Oral b, usually on offer for about £20.

All family, including kids use one. Smile

Now this is interesting ( I know I need to get out more, but it really is!) because I've never used a Phillips before.

I shall take a look 👍

Sonicare is the best thing ever, I recommend it to anyone who will listen. It's helped my gingivitis massively.

seventh · 17/04/2018 13:42

Ok. So I've just checked online and there are so many types of Phillips Sonicare.

Which do you use?

Oral B, I did find it very loud initially but I think for me it works better than the Sonicare I used previously.

Dancergirl · 17/04/2018 14:15

Watching with interest.

seventh I agree and they all vary so much in price!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 17/04/2018 15:33

We have one from Oral B - I have had good experiences with them. Currently have a Genius 9000, and previously had one with a little clock/timer. I have kept the little clock from the old one despite having binned the toothbrush as it works really well as a clock in the bathroom Blush

Replacement heads are reasonably cheap (and often on offer) and easy to buy, battery life is great, the lifespan of the actual thing is great and I love the timer (30 seconds brushing per quadrant).

I did think about getting a sonicare but the reviews online weren't great, so I decided not to bother.

ArkAtEee · 17/04/2018 16:26

I have a Phillips Sonicate too, it's great, would definitely recommend. Boots had a less than half price offer on it when I bought earlier this year.

JellySlice · 17/04/2018 17:31

i just bought whichever model was on offer at Boots. i think they were clearing out the previous year's model at a hefty discount, to make way for the newer model coming out in time for christmas

seventh · 17/04/2018 17:58

I'm noticing that the sonicare brush head seems bigger than the oral B. I wonder if this means that the sonicare is less easy to reach awkward parts ?!

Mercurial123 · 17/04/2018 18:10

I have the Sonicare and Oral B. I prefer the Oral B and my dentist and hygienist says they are the best.

OCSockOrphanage · 17/04/2018 20:24

I have both the Sonicare and an ancient Oral B sonicare, and the OB is much better because the brushes are immeasurably superior. However OB lost the legal case so we are eking out the remaining replacement heads because they stopped manufacturing them a couple of years ago.

othgraph · 17/04/2018 20:27

Sonicare. Used to have the Oral B but Sonicare shape is better for my mouth. Seems to last longer when fully charged for me as well. I would have stuck to the Oral B but my dentist recommended the Sonicare and now much prefer it over the Oral B but the heads are more expensive.

ClaudiaNaughton · 17/04/2018 20:29

What legal case OCSock?

Madbengalmum · 17/04/2018 20:30

Sonicare is a far better product than oral b,but it should be as prices are very different. If you can do it buy a sonicare.

OCSockOrphanage · 18/04/2018 09:59

Claudia, Phillips brought a copyright/patent infringement case against Braun/OB and won on the grounds that ultra-sonic was their invention/trademark technology and Braun was simply copying the product. It was only the sonic model. And the OB brushes are better because much more complex and sophisticated in shape and the way the bristles are set. They were cheaper than Phillips too, but not much.

GreyCloudsToday · 18/04/2018 10:18

I bought the cheapest sonicare, it was around £50 I think, which was a lot but then again only the same as a hygienist appointment.
