Skin SOS!

Hi everyone,

Can anybody recommend any good skincare for this redness that I always have at the bottom of my cheeks? My skin is on the drier side of normal, and I think probably quite dehydrated. I have slipped into a completely dreadful skincare "routine", where I leave my makeup on overnight and then use face wash in the morning to take it off, and that's it. No wonder my skin looks like poo. In my defence I am heavily pregnant and can't be bothered to do anything Blush

Any tips for the redness and dehydration would be great. Thanks Smile

Well that looks quite bad OP and I'm inclined to wonder what face wash you're using? It must be too harsh for your skin!

Can you try removing your makeup with an emollient cream instead? That's the only thing I can use....far more gentle and moisturising than washes.

It's a foamy one from origins. I know that I need to stop being so lazy and start using a cream cleanser and a hot cloth. I've always had quite bad redness though, getting really sick of having to use so much concealer to cover it up

An emollient is even better than a cream cleanser as it's far more pure. It's no bother to do. Just buy a tonne of cheap cotton flannels.

Is an emollient cleanser like aqueous cream??

Try Body Shop Camomile Balm Cleanser to remove makeup and then something like La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser or Avène Extremely Gentle Cleanser. It really doesn't take long and it should help.

A hydrating toner can work wonders for dehydrated skin. I use Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner and it's been amazing.

You could also try Azelaic Acid from the Ordinary for the redness, but try the hydrating toner first, you may not even need it.

Thanks @BagelGoesWalking, I will definitely look into that lot. Hopeful bump for more product recommendations?

Oilatum do a face repair cream (in a tube) which my daughter uses when she gets a sandpapery rash on her face. It's about £6/7 off the top of my head, I've bought it in Boots but it's not with the normal skin stuff, it's in the pharmacy aisles.

Another vote for Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser here, it's great stuff. Also Ultrabland by Lush, massaged on and taken off with a flannel and water. I would avoid anything that foams.
