Blow-drying for dummies [blush]

Can anyone please help me learn how to blow-dry my hair properly? I've never really bothered with my hair much, but I've recently been given a dyson hairdryer so feel I should make the effort.

My hair is just below shoulder-length and is fine but there's loads of it. It has a natural wave and a tendency to frizz. I just want it to look neat and straight, nothing fancy. I'm currently using a bit of frizz-ease on the ends before I dry it. Although it's ending up quite straight, it's still pretty 'big'. I'm using a paddle brush. It's not in great condition and I think the split ends are increasing rapidly since I started blow-drying. I don't like using too much product as it tends to make my hair look greasy and I prefer to wash it only twice a week if possible.

Can anyone suggest anything, or point me at a youtube tutorial?

Once you have washed your hair, towel dry, comb you hair ,section it and use big clips to pin up some sections leaving the underneath down. Use a barrel brush and dry you hair in sections. Make each section dry before letting down the next sections. Hair done ! As you say watch a you tube or book yourself into the hairdressers and watch them closely.

Thanks Name, I do all that but with a paddle brush, which is what my hairdresser uses. Still doesn't come out right though Sad

I use a barrel brush with soft bristles.

I also have some medium sized Velcro rollers and when I’ve finished each section I clip it round the roller. I find this makes it easier to keep the sections I’ve done separate from the sections I haven’t done and it gives me a better shape.

Don’t be afraid to use rollers if you think your hair is already “big”. So is mine and it just helps with the shape to have more root volume and the ends tucked under nicely.

If I use any other kind of brush or don’t use the rollers I get flat roots and poofy ends - the dreaded triangle shape!
