Help! What do I wear to Ronnie Scotts jazz club?

I've tried three times to post photos here and it's not letting me! I'll try and post them individually in comments.
I have been invited to go tomorrow and have nothing suitable to wear due to weight gain. Narrowed it down to these three and I fully expect someone to come on here and say no! Has anyone actually been? I normally go to rock gigs so am v out of my depth! Friend goes to R Scotts every now and then and says don't have to be OTT glam but do have to be smart and 'everyone wears black'. Most of my stuff is ditsy prints (that still fits) so I'm buggered! But it would be sad if I cancelled due to no clothes. I can't borrow anything and have no time to buy either

Black vintage lace shift. Have black tights but it is very mini on me, would feel uncomfortable and self conscious . Would have a black coat but without that could not bend over! (am tall)

Vintage black and gold pleated stretchy dress. Trouble is I have big boobs and the crossover style seems to make them look a lot bigger, despite that I've always read that this is the style to choose for big busts!

Dress three, stretchy Biba, the one I'd feel most comfortable in, but print too busy?

Has anyone actually been? I'm thinking of dress 3 but I have to find some footwear. I'm going to feel like such a scruffy imposter. I've just been on the road with a rock band (DP works in music) but I'm not used to being smart for gigs! I've lost my job so no money to spend. Hair has not been cut for 11 months, ends are really split. I guess all I can do is sleep with a hair mask on tonight and try and disguise with serum tomorrow?
Or should I just cancel :( The reason I sound unprepared is that I only got invited a few hours ago, but I just don't have the money to glam up anyway

Everyone wears black but jeans would be fine. All the dresses are lovely but I like the third one best.

You could put your hair up? e.g. a very simple 'chignon' (make a low ponytail with your hands, then twist it and pin it up against the back of your head, ends tucked under. Or a side plait/fishtail plait (many YouTube tutorials).

LockedOutOfMN · 10/04/2018 21:37

P.S. Ronnie Scott's is lovely, have lots of fun!

Laska5772 · 10/04/2018 21:38

Dress 3, black opaques boots , black jacket ( leather would be good if you have one .).it'll be dark in there anyway ..

GO!! it will be great .. (I've never been btw)

DontCallMeCharlotte · 10/04/2018 21:38

I've been. The third one is lovely and would be fine. Have fun!

AnaViaSalamanca · 10/04/2018 21:39

Why no black jeans?

1 is my fav, but if it's out I would go for 3 over 2.

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 21:42

I just absolutely can't put hair up :( It's ridiculously fine and slippy and I'm clueless with hair) It doesn't hold any style . In fact I have an ad hoc job and now my hair's grown long again they want me to tie it up.. I was seriously thinking of quitting as I just can't! It just falls out. Also with my round face it looks terrible
Friend keeps saying, no black jeans :( but that she thinks dress 2 or 3 would be fine but def not first one (she's right, it barely covers my bum)

I have been (my husband's uncle is a regular and he brought us for a night out). Wear what feels comfy - it is way more intimate than a rock gig, but the atmosphere was great, friendly and warm. It is mainly older people so not a trendy hipster vibe. Red lippy, a couple of cocktails (or beers) and enjoy the music. Live music is nearly always a fantastic thing.

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 21:43

I only have a black mac type coat (but quite smart, semi trench style) or a black goth type coat
No smart black boots, all v worn looking , was meant to replace but lost job recently
Have smart shoes, not sure if will go but most of my going out ones are more 'fun' ones like Irregular Choice which wouldn't be suitable, or good to walk around London in

Maybe I'll just wear my slightly worn black work boots with new black tights and hope no one looks down!

Dress 3. If you feel confident in it, you'll be fine.

No one is going to refuse you entry based on your dress. But if you'd like perspective, I would have gone in smart black tight jeans and a slinky top as I just would never have thought to check any 'rules' and I'd expect to be let in. Don't worry too much!

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 21:45

Jackie, the thing is, I 'm constantly going to live music, this is my third time in the last 4 days! and DP works in music but nearly every gig I go to is rock or more folky type. This is the problem..this is way too refined for me ;)And I have lots of nice stuff but I'm not sure if suitable, my stuff tends to be a cross between rock/ hippy/ hipster/ quirky
Whereas my jazz fan friend is much more 'classic' and loaded

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/04/2018 21:49

Dress 3 is lovely.

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 21:50

thanks Remus. If I can find some smart shoes and my black Coach bag I've never used maybe I'll feel a bit smarter x

We go a lot. In smart clothes or casual. People wear a whole variety of things, so don't worry.

The burger and fries there are out of this world! I often prefer it to the music.

Have fun!

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 21:54

ok thanks Rask. That helps. I think friend is being fussy as she's meeting posh workmates there. Normally I'm smarter than her! I don't know why she's saying no jeans, I have brand new black ones

OP posts:
Kirta · 10/04/2018 21:58

3rd dress, messy topknot with some strands down, tights and boots! And enjoy the night. It's so much fun, you'll love it!

alltoomuchrightnow · 10/04/2018 22:10

thanks Kirta. I've decided going to wear maroon faux velvet shoe boots that have a wedge heel, rather than boring black.. the dress and coat will have enough black.
I just found my only really smart bag.. and its Tods not Coach (don't know why I said Coach) only to discover the zip's bust! I could cry. I have so so many bags but this was definitely my smart one. Sob

YoucancallmeVal · 11/04/2018 07:51

Op it will be fine! I went last week in jeans and a long sleeved top with heeled ankle boots - dressed for the weather. Huge range of outfits, so whatever you wear will be just fine, bag or no bag!

Shampaincharly · 11/04/2018 08:00

Dress 3.
Heard a story recently doorman would not let Van Morrison in when he turned up. ( for his own show)
