Good quality exercise leggings - how much do you pay?

I'm trying to work out if it's worth paying Sweaty Betty prices for a nice pair of leggings which provides good support for all my wobbly bits and doesn't lose shape after a few washes. Or can people recommend any other good quality brand that is maybe a bit less pricey?

The Sweaty Betty ones are really nice, but I only ever buy them in the sale! Sorry, probably not helpful!

niknac1 · 10/04/2018 18:38

My daughter had some from Aldi and Lidl when they do them on offers and they were £8 or less and they have lasted really well and are significantly cheaper than the branded gear. I would buy them again, she wears them outside of fitness classes and finds them super comfortable.Worth having a look but they don’t seem to stock it hem all the time.

DHB (available at Wiggle) have some nice patterns, wide waistbands and keep their shape well.

FusionChefGeoff · 10/04/2018 18:51

Ive got some amazing gap 'blackout' leggings - really supportive and comfy and still looking good after a couple of years and LOTS of washing and tumble drying

newsfromnowhere · 10/04/2018 18:53

I have Lululemon and Sweaty Betty (bought in sales) but think Gap Fit are just as good. I did not find H&M very good quality - thin and stretched too much.

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 18:54

I’m just about to try out some Fabletics ones...

TheDisreputableDog · 10/04/2018 18:57

I love my Fabletics outfit but I only ever had the first one with the massive discount, couldn't justify the others.

Margomyhero · 10/04/2018 19:15

I've never spent much on exercise kit (other than bras and shoes).

In addition to Lidl and Aldi I rate BAM highly. Excellent quality. I wear them for running and gym classes. Also around the house as they are so comfy. Www.bamboo.co.uk

Abra1de · 10/04/2018 19:17

I have the discount too. 🙂 I have slight buyer’s remorse. If they make me look wonderfully lithe and athletic I may keep them after trying them on at home. If I still look like me, back they go.

Margomyhero · 10/04/2018 19:18

Oops. Try again

bam

Aldi, Lidl, Primark etc. Wear them 3x pw and replace every year.

ephemeralfairy · 10/04/2018 19:21

Try TKMaxx for sport brands: I've got a pair of Ellesse leggings that are super comfy, keep their shape and stay up really well while I'm running.

Lotsofplanetshaveanorth · 10/04/2018 19:33

I have just bought fantastic ones from the gap outlet, lovely and thick for running in the north, very flattering for holding me together and so far washed well. I think about 15 quid

peonylover22 · 10/04/2018 20:08

I really like my Sweaty Betty leggings, I have several pairs thermal running leggings for winter running and several pairs of lightweight capris for summer running. I think they’re well designed- have good zip pockets for keys which are really useful. Not tried the yoga / Pilates range

ShowOfHands · 10/04/2018 20:18

I like Nike and 2XU but bought Davina ones from Tesco in a pinch and they're pretty good tbh. I run or work out 5-6 times a week and they're as good as new.

CallarMorvern · 10/04/2018 21:41

I have a pair of Helly Hansen, but prefer my Lidl and Aldi pairs, they wash well, keep their shape and fit nicely. DD has Nike Dri-fit and they pull easily.
But I like the look of Gap's offerings and might splash out when I have sufficient funds.

beela · 10/04/2018 21:42

Yy, bam are great.

Teacuphiccup · 10/04/2018 21:44

Sweaty Betties are soooooo nice, but wait for the sale.

Tk maxx stock a brand called kyodin which are really nice too.

SesameSparkle · 10/04/2018 22:10

I have sweaty betty running leggings, bought in the sale. They fit well, have a drawstring to pull in the waist, and as pp said the zipped pocket at the back is big enough for a mobile phone and keys. They also come in colours, different lengths and last for ages.

Alternatives I own are Nike (from the outlet) - but the fit was never as good, and Lululemon - but their customer service is abysmal.

I haven't had much luck with high street fitness gear - e.g. often no pocket, no drawstring, or thin fabric. And I find the selection from a running shop a bit boring (would be okay if you want black....)

I'm much less fussy when it comes to yoga clothes and would equally wear comfy cotton based fashion or thermal underwear leggings as I would proper fitness gear.

PasstheStarmix · 10/04/2018 22:12

Sainsbury’s one’s are great, nice and thick and not transparent. From what I recall they came in a pack of 2 pairs and weren’t expensive.

SuperSange · 10/04/2018 22:14

Tikiboo leggings are amazing if you like colourful ones. Quality is brilliant.

allthegoodnameshadgone · 10/04/2018 22:18

Queenie ke are very good quality and have lasted so far. They had of everything in and up

superking · 10/04/2018 22:21

I've just bought my second pair from a brand called neonysweets (never heard of them!) via Amazon. First pair are nearly a year old and have seen me through 3-4 weekly gym / running sessions, including a half marathon. They are still going strong but wanted another pair to make laundry easier. About £15 I think, nice thick fabric, hold in wobbly bits and pocket too. Absolutely brilliant.
