Calling curly girl experts...

So on your advice I’ve been (loosely) following this method- just washing with approved conditioner, not brushing, not heat styling.... and so far so good. So thank you all for that. In fact my loose waves (rather than the previous frizz) I had before are making me want to consider getting a balayage. Will this mess with the good curly girl work? I don’t want to create more frizz!

From what I can gather on the FB group the purists don't recommend dyeing your hair if you're doing CG. I follow some of the rules (co-washing, no silicones/sulphates etc., no heat) but my hair is dyed every 7-8 weeks - base colour on roots/greys and scattered lowlights. I like the way it looks but more importantly, I'd rather abandon CG altogether than live with the greys that started to appear along the parting a few years ago. I'm 36 and don't plan to embrace the grey any time in the next 30 years or so Grin My hair is in great condition, it's bra-strap length and still has super-defined curls and no frizz at all.

It takes me a week to two to recover my curls properly after a gentle dye job.
I’ve stopped in the last few months Neha and my condition and curl is much better.

Thanks for the advice. I have too much grey to ignore it I think so I think I’ll go all in for the balayage with root tint.

Jumping on as only just heard about this method and feel like it might be a bit of an epiphany. Do we think a tangle teezer brush in the shower with conditioner is too harsh? And I have a hair wrap which looks like towel but is actually bobbly microfiber- do I need to ditch it? Tia!

zippyswife · 14/04/2018 22:09

Not sure about the tangle teaser. I got a wide tooth comb which seems to work well. I can’t help with the towels I’m afraid...

I use my fingers to comb when it's wet , I don't own a hairbrush or comb . I use a micrfibre towel when I'm plopping .
