Just been to Mothercare and they didn't have the greatest range in store, about to check online. Where is best to shop?

OP posts:
LampShadeHeid · 08/04/2018 13:13

I’ve got a few cheap bits from George at Asda for wearing to work. ASOS have a good maternity range. Also bought a few things from Debenhams and Dorothy perkins. All been online as stores by me didn’t stock any maternity wear.

greenlizard · 08/04/2018 13:35

Seraphine- expensive but good quality - survived three pregnancies and looks as good as new.
Also:
Jojo Maman baby
New look
Top shop
Next
Gap
Isabeller Oliver

PipsM · 08/04/2018 14:42

I’ve been quite cheap with my clothing choices:
H&M- some stores stock maternity, lots on line
New Look (online- very few shops stock maternity or so I have found)
M&S online for basic leggings and tops
Next online too
Asda also looks good but friends lent me lots of jojo Mayan things that have lasted 3 pregnancies now so am not buying any more.

Ebay for seraphine/Isabella Oliver for special occasions

Holycrapwhatnow · 08/04/2018 14:45

Seraphine and Isabella Oliver are £££ but last really really well if you are planning more pregnancies - sometimes you can find online nearly new too.
H&M good for basics and bits for near the end that you don't end up wearing and washing so much (as it doesn't last as well in my experience). Lots of people on here rave about Gap but i found that sizes came up large and was a little dowdy.

hoopdeloop · 08/04/2018 14:47

The majority of my maternity clothes are from New Look, with leggings and jeans from H&M and a few bits from mothercare I got in the sale. Online is your best bet but it can be a faff having to order/change sizes when normally you could try in a shop

Littlebitty · 08/04/2018 14:56

Congrats of your pregnancy OP!
Dorothy Perkins, H&M, Mothercare, Asda, Gap for basics - all online apart from H&M which has some things in store. Best maternity leggings have been from Asda and tights from H&M. Gap sizing is too big but quality good. Jojo Maman Bebe for dresses especially for work and most of them double as nursing dresses.

Eryri1981 · 08/04/2018 14:57

Second hand from eBay, didn't have much, so what I had for worn repeatedly and washed a lot!

JoJo maman Breton tunics, last really well, stretch and changed shape and size well through the pregnancy.
Boden leggings (if you can track any down) lasted so much better than any other leggings.
Frugi, wrap maternity/nursing tops, quality of the fabric is great so they wash well again and again.

pastabest · 08/04/2018 15:06

Jeans and leggings and a few dresses from ASOS, other than that I've pretty much worn my normal vest tops and jumpers in both pregnancies (full term with DC1, currently 30 weeks with DC2)

I have a few tops and jeans and things from new look from my first pregnancy but they didn't last well at all and are only really fit for being out in the garden etc second time round.

elQuintoConyo · 08/04/2018 15:11

H&M. I'm abroad, not rich and not 2nd hand culture here.
H&M were fine for basics. I have some jolly costume jewellery and scarves etc, so looked decent if i say so myself.

Luckily i didn't have anything to dress up for during my pregnancy, wedding or whatever.

Oh, i just remembered i had a sleeveless maxi dress from Primark that stretched beautifully. It was €4. Gutted that it was too stretched to wear the following summer!

SPARKS17 · 08/04/2018 15:12

Seraphine for a few nice dresses but found their delivery painfully slow and took forever to get a refund on return (3 weeks after returning!) not sure I would bother with them again.

Top shop & ASOS for jeans

H&M for tops, leggings and joggers, fast free delivery and free returns love being able to order lots to try and return anything that doesnt work.

MrsMarigold · 08/04/2018 15:13

Seraphine, Gap, Asos and some dutch stuff from a little boutique, Noppies and another brand called Queen Mum. I returned the stuff from Isabella Oliver as it wasn't good on me. I also got an amazing dress in Jigsaw, that was lovely but not officially maternity.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 08/04/2018 15:28

Jeans - topshop
T-shirts - H&M for stretchy cotton and Asos for boyfriend tees (also cotton)
Dresses - so far 2 from seraphine, 1 from Mamalicious via Amazon and 1 from isabella oliver
Other tops - H&M so far, and have my eye on some from boohoo and asos.
Leggings - have some on order from Seraphine but need to chase them!

I have to say mothercare/jojo/new look/gap/m&s seem a bit less stylish than other options to me. Just wish topshop updated their range a bit more often.

Nothisispatrick · 08/04/2018 19:41

I've only bought a few bits so far and all from asos.

peonylover22 · 08/04/2018 19:45

Seraphine and Isabella Oliver - £££ but I felt great. Thought Mamalicious was good for jeans. Also a few items from Envie de fraises, JoJo Maman and La Redoute. Really struggled to find exercise pregnancy wear - stuff suitable for sweaty cardio, not gentle yoga - but found some from Fitta mama in the end.

NameChange30 · 08/04/2018 19:50

Online. Very few shops stock their maternity ranges in store, and those that do have very limited options.

I bought several items from Zalando and ASOS, not just their own brand stuff but also Mamalicious, Noppies, New Look. My favourite maternity leggings were from M&S, they were comfy, good quality and not too expensive. Oh and I don’t usually shop in Next but got a few good bits from there (very comfy PJs, good quality t-shirt).

JustPutSomeGlitterOnIt · 08/04/2018 19:52

H&M every time for bottoms.

Tops just normal clothes but I'd buy a few sizes up or stretchy, because I soon found that if you didn't like Breton tops, you were fucked.

Mothercare and JoJo are frumpy as sin, but I hear ASOS are very good too.

Oly5 · 08/04/2018 22:02

Gap. It was all so comfy and good quality.. lasted 3 pregnancies

Greenhouseonthehill · 08/04/2018 22:10

On my third pregnancy, and just bought some bits from H n M. I already have jeans from top shop and leggings and dresses from Seraphine that have lasted well.

Jojo expensive and frumpy I found.

I also size up Sainsbury’s clothes too.

StellaWouldYouTakeMeHome · 09/04/2018 15:50

Just buy stuff a few sizes bigger from Primark etc you can bin it at the end

Unihorn · 09/04/2018 15:52

I bought oversized Primark tops and leggings and then random bits from H&M. If you are anywhere near South Wales the JoJo Naman Bebe outlet is in Newport and sells maternity wear for as a cheap as £1 during sales, it's the best!

hipposinacircle · 09/04/2018 15:54

Boohoo, ASOS, Dorothy Perkins, eBay

babyboyHarrison · 09/04/2018 15:56

I discovered www.enviedefraise.co.uk during my second pregnancy and wish I found them earlier. Suited me, clothes similar priced to my normal clothes and wore the things I bought for some time after for nursing.

brogueish · 09/04/2018 16:31

H&M for jeans and shirts, Isabella Oliver for workwear, matalan/new look/etc for pg vests/tops. As much of that as possible via ebay.

fia101 · 09/04/2018 16:38

Not sure what has happened to mothercare. With pregnancy number 1 five years ago I got nice jersey dresses from mothercare that washed well and I still have now. Have worn for work - not too short. Now it is totally different.

Bought stuff from eBay. Jo jo Maman cost, seraphine dress, 2 Isabella oliver dresses, Paige maternity jeans

BobLoblawLawBlog · 09/04/2018 16:48

Topshop by far the best for maternity jeans that are actually proper jeans fabric and not jeggjngs. I lived in the over hump Leigh and Jamie jeans.
