Parlux 3200! :( what’s the perfect hairdryer?

After reading one million good reviews and my SIL raving about Parlux hairdryers for years i finally treated myself with my birthday money last week. Just used it for the first time and I’m so disappointed! i had both settings (power and heat) on max and it didn’t seem that powerful at all. My SIL always says it takes her about 5 mins to dry her hair and it’s long and thick ish, mine is shoulder length and very fine, it took longer than my last hairdryer :(

I’ve bought this: www.parlux.co.uk/parlux-3200-compact.html

and my previous hairdryer (there wasn’t anything really wrong with it, i just heard so much about parlux!) was this: store.markhill.co.uk/products/salon-professional-hairdryer

has anybody had both hair dryers? i don’t know what to do now, should i return it?!

If you don't like it, return it. I rarely use a hairdryer but I've always had babyliss as long as I can remember.

I have the same parlux. It's better than my old hairdryer but it's not the wow I was expecting.

missfliss · 08/04/2018 19:28

I have the Dyson hairdryer - it's really expensive but I have been delighted with it - it also helps the condition of my hair.

Batiste blow drying spray might be worth a go, it reduces the amount if time needed to blow dry

pimlicolife · 08/04/2018 19:36

@missfliss hi does the Dyson stop frizzy hair? I'm so tempted to buy one but don't know anyone else who has bought one to ask this first....

TittyGolightly · 08/04/2018 19:38

Love my GHD Air.

missfliss · 08/04/2018 19:45

For me the Dyson really does make my hair smooth and light.

If you order from Dyson direct on their site, they offer a 35 money-ack no quibble returns policy, so you can try before you buy.

They also offer payment plans and free next day delivery

Dyson are pro-Brexit. Smooth hair isn’t worth much when your future economic certainty has been shafted.

guiltynetter · 08/04/2018 20:13

dyson is definitely out of my price range! probably £70 maximum. hmm. i think i’m going to send it back, but i’ve used it! just once. unsure if they’ll accept it. i got it from amazon.

GHD is about £70 on amazon.

missfliss · 08/04/2018 20:30

I'm answering a question about whether I consider it to be a good hairdryer.

Factually - in answer to that question, I consider it to be an extremely good hairdryer.

Is it worth £300? Possibly, possibly not. For me it is because I have a full time job with a commute, a disabled child and am also Marathon training. Having something that can dry my hair rapidly with minimal damage is a valuable time saver.

Have I successfully boycotted companies where I disagree with the founders politics? No.

Shame.

missfliss · 08/04/2018 20:40

Titty - can you back off? For gods sake, I'm answering a question about a hairdryer.
Stop jumping on me. It's totally unnecessary and really unpleasant

SpecialAgentNobody · 08/04/2018 20:43

I’ve got the GHD one. It’s shit. I was thinking of giving Parlux a go til I read this thread.

TittyGolightly · 08/04/2018 20:43

I’m not jumping on you. I deliberately posted separately about Dyson. The OP may not have been aware. It might matter to her. I didn’t actually refer to you at all in that.

If anything you jumped on me!

missfliss · 08/04/2018 20:49

If I have misunderstood titty then I genuinely apologise, but your post re Dyson / Brexit referencing smoother hair etc appeared to me like a direct reference to my post above it recommending the Dyson - I thought you were having a dig at me.

I apologise that you felt got at, I felt got at by that, but somehow ( maybe a display issue?) we must have crossed wires

pimlicolife · 08/04/2018 21:20

@missfliss thanks. Smile

missfliss · 08/04/2018 21:28

You are welcome Pimlico- I totally understand your need to find out more, £300 is a lot of money. Hopefully though if you do decide to take the plunge their 35 day money back guarantee will ensure that if you aren't happy you aren't tied to it x

CoperCabana · 08/04/2018 21:29

I bought a Parlux, pretty much based on Mumsnet recommendations. I found it rubbish at drying my hair quickly and nicely as I had been promised, and I found it worse still when it broke just after the warranty ran out. If you are not happy now, I would say return now.

Mercurial123 · 08/04/2018 23:43

I have a Parlux I really like it and just got a Glamoriser as a gift it's really powerful it's pretty good. I tried my friend's Dyson for me it wasn't great on my frizzy dry hair.
