What to wear swimming

Hello all!
I am wanting to take little one swimming but am unsure what to wear! Bikini is a no, wouldn’t feel comfortable at a family pool in my bikini. Looked at swimming costumes and they seem to be either really high leg or really low cut and booby! Also, full swim costumes seem to be really ‘obvious’ (if you get what I mean) when it comes to stiff nips!! Grin
I was thinking maybe a top and bottoms, a tankini is it? Has anyone found anything nice? I’m a size 10/12 with horrendous stretch marks on my thighs and a muffin top. I want to feel comfortable obviously!
Had a nosey on asos but they seem very much boobs, bum and/or fanny out! Shock

I have this tankini in blue and just ordered the purple too because it’s so nice! It’s comfortable and supportive, no boobs on show and shorts feel practical. Bargain price at the moment too!

Hadn’t thought of sportsdirect, thank you!

Have a look at George at Asda. I treated myself to this one a couple of weeks ago, not high cut on the legs, not too show off at the boobs and extra thick and holds you in!

Retainer I like those bottoms.
Passthe I like that style but worried it’ll untie? Mind you, I could double knot it.

Try brastop.com

A tankini with shorts or a skort, ruching on the tummy is flattering.

LadyTesticlee · 06/04/2018 08:05

Swimwear 365 too

Just had a nosey on the George site, really impressed! I thought they’d all be very ‘mumsy’ but they’ve got some lovely stylish items.

I bought a nice halterneck swimsuit from Figleaves. It has a bra fitting top, with a sturdy back clasp, neck clasp and adjustable halter.

Mine is black and white.

Smellybears · 06/04/2018 08:37

That’s lovely!

As a fellow 10/12 owner of a muffin top...get a one piece in order to avoid all possibility of a tankini top riding up and exposing your middle. You want to be able to swim and play when your lo without constantly having to check or adjust your swimsuit.

Smellybears · 06/04/2018 08:44

I was back in my jeans within two weeks of giving birth but a have a wobbly tummy now and have always hated my thighs so don’t want anything high cut on the leg. People say I’m slim etc and I’m not overweight at all but obviously everyone has body issues and I struggle with confidence. Clothes shopping for instance is a massive downer for me, I don’t feel confident or comfortable in any clothes. Anyway, I’ll shut up now! Grin

The George at Asda range is really good. I really like their mastectomy wear range as the costumes have good coverage and thick fabric.

CaptainBrickbeard · 06/04/2018 10:17

Tankinis drive me crazy - forever riding up and needing readjustment.

I wear a high waisted bikini so only about an inch of skin in the middle is on snow. I don’t see many bikinis in the family pool though and I would like a swimsuit, but with 36GG boobs I have to buy properly supportive swimsuits with built in bras and they’re expensive. So I go in my bikini anyway.

Smellybears · 06/04/2018 10:25

High waisted bikini is a good idea, I hadn’t thought of one of those!

@CaptainBrickbeard try Figleaves (I don't work for them, honest) as you can get a nice bra fit swimsuit or bikini top and match with various different style bottoms - I bought two bra halter bikini tops in black and blue and I have three pairs of bottoms (I like to rinse over night and dry during the day) - I have a high waist pair with ruching in blue and black and a fold over top pair of bottoms that are really flattering.

I use my bikinis on holiday (nobody knows me - don't give a shit Grin) and the one piece in the local pool.

trinity0097 · 07/04/2018 19:13

Tankinis tend to ride up in my opinion if doing proper swimming, not lounging about in the pool on holiday.

ZenNudist · 07/04/2018 19:16

A proper sports swimsuit. Speedo or similar. They do ones with control tummy panels. Last forever. Choose a flattering colour.

BadCopBadCop · 07/04/2018 19:40

OP, I know where you're coming from.

Speedo do a range of 'water fitness' stuff that include shorts or even leggings designed to swim in, and a range of tops.

I got a proper 'mumsuit' from Figleaves which though a bit booby, is low on the legs so I don't feel like my fanny is out. I love it!

Smellybears · 08/04/2018 01:04

Thank you so much all! Grin

I got this in an emergency, it's really cheap, really flattering, and has a lined bit that nipples can't get through!

I think I’m gonna go have a look on asda today and if we make swimming a regular thing then I’ll get something more expensive in a few weeks

Not some where I'd normally think of but Marks & Sparks have these amazing cozzies in at the moment that hide everything and seem to nip you in at waist. I'm struggling to get back to normal stomach wise after dd3 and was so pleased to find this! It sucks you in and it has an extra section of material over front too...
