I've never had clear skin and it was awful during my teenage years and I had a course of roaccutane which helped at the time. Mid 30s now though!

What would improve the shocking state of my skin?

What can be done? 🤔

Is it scaring? Maybe a good oil? Sorry I can't be of much help!

Hiya, i have a few suggestions which may help but may involove the $$$. i would suggest something along the lines of skin resurfacing or laser therapy. Either a really good and I mean a really good either vitamin B3 serum or vitamin C, both very good for your skin but can't be used together you would need to use one in the morning and the other in the evening. Also vitamin B3 taken as a vitamin supplement helps repair your skin on a cellular level. Roaccutane whilst very helpful does a lot of damage too so i would advise staying away from a second course. My first port of call would be to look at your skin care regime......you don't even need expensive products....i don't know if Zeroid products are available in the UK but the face wash and cream are very good and inexpensive. get yourself some B3 vitamin pills and supplement and get yourself some laser therapy. Hope this helps a little bit :)

Have a look at the Fantastic Skincare thread, there’s lots of info on there

Did you at any point used to pick your skin? It looks like scarring. Lasers or chemical peels will help. A good vitamin C serum and a retinoid will also help. Wear sun screen every day.

Sorry for the delay in replying but thank you for the suggestions. A lot of it is scarring and acne that has returned. It's so depressing.

I will look into some of the creams recommended.

You really should visit a decent dermatologist who can point you in the right direction re treatments ie laser which work really well, there are so many great new fangled pieces of technology and equipment around now so you will have smoother skin in no time.

Sympathy OP - I have some scarring too and it’s horrible when you catch sight of yourself in the mirror sometimes. Firstly, it won’t be as noticeable to others as it is to you. Secondly, I agree with the suggestions to speak to a dermatologist - they’ll be able to give you the best advice. I’ve had a few sessions of dermarolling and I think it’s helped a little (but maybe it’s just wishful thinking).

I’ve noticed too it makes a big difference if my skin is dry or dehydrated - it looks a lot better on the days I drink loads of water and eat well. Again maybe that’s because I’m in a more positive mood!

I’ve been using the super facialist vit c cleanser for a few weeks and would recommend it.
