Primer recommendations please

I have an oily T zone and very dry cheeks. Can anyone recommend a primer to help my foundation look a bit more even? i'm currently ending up with no make up on chin by lunchtime and my cheeks looking scaly! Don't mind buying an expensive one if it works.

I recently bought Estee Lauder The Illuminator Primer, and wouldn't be without it now; it makes a real difference to how long my foundation lasts, and gives a lovely "dewy" look.
From what you say, it might also be worthwhile reviewing your skincare regime, so that your skin is the best it can be before you start applying any make up; I would recommend visiting a Liz Earle counter for advice.

Bobbi Brown moisturise face base is wonderful. It’s not heavy so won’t make you oilier, and it’s perfect for dry cheeks. I love t. Pricey, but it lasts ages.

Thank you both for the recommendations. Good idea about my regime too, hadn't considered going back to basics. ☺️

If your foundation is coming off too easily I would recommend setting your concealer on your chin and under eye area with a translucent powder and beauty blender.

I just use a light moisturiser instead of a primer and find it works better for me personally.

I've used a few primers and still think the best one I have tried is Lanacane anti chafing cream!

DaisyChainsForever · 04/04/2018 09:25

Anti chafing cream! 🤣😳

Honestly Daisy try it! It's cheap and apparently has the same formulation as the Smash box primer. It's like those clear, siliconey gel type formulations, but nice and cheap and really does work.

G'wan, you know you want to!

Is this a wind up?

greenhighlighter · 04/04/2018 13:33

I have two in my make up bag - YSL touché elcat blur - and collection 2000 (now called Collection) -the tube with the witch hazel in - and I use my £2.99 more as I prefer the finish and it's less greasy than the ysl!

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 04/04/2018 13:38

Is this a wind up?

No, not at all! In fact I'm pretty sure I got my Lanacane as a primer tip from Mumsnet!

You learn something new everyday, great tip

Sounds to me like you might do best with 2 different primers - one for cheeks and one for t zone as they need to be doing opposite things for your skin. The Makeup Forever ones are amazing and I know they do one for oily skin and I'm sure they do a hydrating one too. Smashbox primers are decent too IMO.

Thanks everyone 😁
