10 year old boy wedding outfit

We are going to a wedding on Saturday (in a nice country house hotel) and I need to buy my DS an outfit.

I had assumed I could get away with chinos, shirt and smart shoes but I've been googling and everything I've read seems to say he needs to be in a suit.

Has anyone been to any nice weddings recently that can let me know what the younger boys were wearing?

Thanks!

I think the chino outfit sounds fine, unless you are one of the wedding party.

Think his outfit sounds fine

Next has loads of things atm. Suits too if that's what you decide.

sounds fine so me. Last wedding we went to my boys wore, suit trousers, waistcoat and shirt/tie from next but most in chinos and shirt/tie

Sailor Suit or a velvet jacket with frilly knickebockers!!!
Just kidding!!!!!!!!

I would have got chinos etc for ds (9yo) to wear to a wedding. Or school trousers and a nice shirt and maybe tie.
Last one we went to was BIL’s tho and we were told ds needed a suit. Hmm Asda came up trumps with a jacket and trousers for under £40. They’re now languishing in the wardrobe, unlikely to be worn again but at least I didn’t spend as much as Next would have cost.

I have 3 ds and for the last wedding we went to they wore suits as they cost just over £20 from an online seller. We are going to another wedding later this year and if the suits do not fit they shall be wearing smart trousers, shirt, tie and possibly a jumper/cardigan if it is cold.

Thank you for your replies.

I will go shopping and see what I can find. I was hoping to avoid buying a suit but if it will end up the same price as a whole new outfit anyway then I may as well.

I know if I ask the bride she will suggest chinos and a shirt but she is often very casually dressed and I don't know anyone else going with DC.

It was so much easier when he was younger but I'm now stressing more about his outfit than mine!

Rococo has some very affordable suits and boys outfits if you are looking. Found my son a five piece suit for under £30

Vitalogy · 02/04/2018 13:57

If you want to go a bit smarter but no suit what about a waistcoat.

OlennasWimple · 02/04/2018 18:10

A suit really isn't needed, I don't think. At least chinos, shirt and pullover can be worn again, even if they cost a bit more than a suit

DGS wore smart trousers, shirt, bow tie and cream jacket to the wedding we went to last week. All from Debenhams.
