Looking for a good body moisturiser, for older skin

I use superdrug vitamin E cream after reading something on mumsnet. It's great. Comes in a big tub for about £4. Exfoliate every time you shower/ bathe then slap a loadx of that on. My skin is so much better for it and I've tried all sorts of £££ creams that were not half as good..

Thank you, will get some tomorrow when i go shopping, its worth trying fot that price
I do use body shops body butter in Cranberry,,its not really very moisturising but smells lovely
I only buy when on offer as its quite expensive

I have got super dry skin. Palmer’s coconut body lotion (the one without mineral oil) is fab.

I have also bought the Childs Farm moisturiser (🐑) and while it has, of course, not cured my eczema and also isn’t great for my face it’s a nice body lotion.

Tiddlywinks63 · 01/04/2018 19:33

I use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula in the pump bottle; it's worked miracles on my 65 year old body. I've tried umpteen others and this is definitely the best.

lovemylover · 01/04/2018 21:56

Tiddlywinks lol, sounds like just what i need, my body sounds similiar to yours then, similiar age,i mean
Will have a look at this too

Vaseline cocoa radiant. Either the lotion or the butter. Amazing stuff. Soaks in quickly and leaves you feeling moisturised but not greasy

Youradviceneeded · 01/04/2018 23:01

Having tried loads and loads, the very best I have found are Aveeno (the smell isn't wonderful, it's not offensive but it doesn't make me smile) and the whipped ones from Rituals (which do smell lovely and work very well. About four times the price of aveeno though).

If you have incredibly dry skin, I would recommend a body moisturiser with urea in it to rescue your skin (the Garnier one is 5% urea which isn't so high as not to spread and sink in well, I find) and then switch to one of the above.

MickHucknallspinkpancakes · 01/04/2018 23:17

I accidentally bought the Palmers with coconut oil not butter and it's absolutely amazing.

Totally sorted out my post winter Dino legs 🦕

thegreenhen · 02/04/2018 16:01

Aveeno is the best I've found

Garnier. The olive oil one in the dark green bottle.

ememem84 · 02/04/2018 16:50

I use palmers cocoa butter. It’s lovely.

onlyconnect · 02/04/2018 18:44

I've tried a few lately, that I saw recommended on here. I'm 50 and dry skinned.
Aveeno - rubbish on my skin, doesn't sink in, just smears around
Vaseline radiance- will buy again. Probably my favourite
Superdrug Vit E- good. Really cheap
Aldi one in dark blue bottle - softens skin but a bit weird, almost like a plastic coating.

I'd used the Clarins super hydrating thick white one for years. I did like it but think the Vaseline one did a better job for far less money.

Nanna50 · 02/04/2018 19:39

Aveeno moisturising creamy oil with almond and oatmeal. Frequently on offer in Boots and Superdrug, feels like a more expensive lotion. I might try the Superdrug vit E after reading this.

ememem84 · 02/04/2018 20:17

I haven’t tried aveeno yet. I have one in my box of spares.

I’m also a fan of body shop body butter hit expensive for what they are.

TheMogget · 02/04/2018 20:24

Aveeno here, definitely keeps my skin moisturised even if I skip a day. Started using it when. I had a flare up of psoriasis and have stuck with it.

UpperWallop · 02/04/2018 20:31

That Aldi one in the dark blue bottle is awful. It's like lard that never sinks in. Total waste of money, even if it does only cost about a pound fifty!

lovemylover · 02/04/2018 21:01

I have some Aveeno, but it doesnt seem to sink in,
Also got body shop body butter, but thats a bit thick, i will have a look at others suggested,i think an ouly one might be better

The ordinary aveeno moisturiser doesn’t sink in on me but the creamy oil moisturiser is much lighter and soft.

IWouldLikeToKnow · 02/04/2018 21:26

Burts Bees do a lovely one. Smells fab too

CertainlyChoco · 02/04/2018 21:46

Rituals. Not cheap but it sinks in and the lovely smell lingers the whole day. I like the sakura one and the Himalayan one.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/04/2018 21:48

Body shop body butters, the ones for very dry skin. Palmers I use the little tube that's supposed to be for rough patches on elbows, etc. for the whole body. It's a faff with the small tube though, which is why it's easier in the morning to have a big tub from Body Shop.

Aveeno doesn't do anything for me.

Gwenhwyfar · 02/04/2018 21:49

Using the Dove oil in the shower has also been helping.

Trumpton · 02/04/2018 21:51

Sanctuary wet skin moisturiser is the best I have tried . 66 years old and too lazy for my own good . Slap it onto wet skin and then towel dry. I no longer have sock dandruff !
